La Piana Bianca - II versante orientale di Ponza, nelle vicinanze del
forte di Frontone, si apre ad uno splendido gioco di rocce venate di rosso e di
giallo che termina con il fantastico fungo della Piana Bianca. Questa singolare
conformazione di tufo ha ispirato ai visitatori una grande varietà di
appellativi; il più noto rimane: Scoglio della Foca o scoglio del Pinguino.
Adiacente la Piana Bianca, in una insenatura che la separa dalla spiag gia del
Core, si apre la Grotta degli Smeraldi. Il nome le deriva dalla tonalità
smeral-dina dell'acqua, effetto della luce che per un'apertura della volta si
riversa nell'interno della grotta.
La Piana Bianca - The western side of Ponza, near the fortress
Frontone, there is a splendid game og yellow and red veined rockes ending up
with the fantastic mushrooms of the Piana Bianca. This peculiar tufa forrr,ation
has inspired to the visitors a big variety of names the best known is: The Seal
Rock or the Penguin Rock. Near the Piana Bianca, in a bay which divide it from
the beach of the Core, there is the Emerald Cave. The name comes from the
emerald tone of the water, that is the effect of the light that gets into the
cave from an opening in the vault.
La Piana Bianca (Die weisse Ebene) – Der östliche Ponzaner Abhang, in der Nähe des Forts Frontone, öffnet sich zu einem strahlenden Spiel von rot – und gelbgestreiften Felsen, und endet mit dem phantastischen Pilz der weissen Ebene. Diese merkwürdige Tuffenbeschaffenheit hat den Besuchern eine grosse Abwechselung von Gottungsnamen; der bekanntste ist: Scoglio della Foca (Seehundeklippe) oder Scoglio del Pinguino (Pinquinklippe). An-stossend an die Weisse Ebene, in einer Bucht, die sie von.dem Strand «del Core» trennt, öffnet sich die Grotta degli Smeraldi (Smaragdgrotte). Den Namen bekommt sie aus dem smaragdenen Farbton des Wassers, eine Lichtwirkung, die sich eine durch Offnung der Gewölbe in das Grotteninnere
ergiesst.

Название
произошло от
изумрудного
оттенка воды,
вызванного
световым
эффектом,
когда свет
проникает в
отверстие
пещеры и
льется
внутрь.
