The image on the left is resized. The image on the right is the full size version of the strange object. Neither of these images were lightened. The actual photo is much grayer than this. The scanning process read most of the smoky gray as brown.

My son and I had taken a trip to Ohio. We were not real thrilled with the hotel we were staying in but had no idea at the time that there was anything "unique" about it. My son took this picture just to show what the room looked like. If you look closely, you can make out the line that designates the corner of the room.

Nothing in this picture could be seen in the room. The bright white thing in the lower left corner is not a camera strap (the camera does not have a strap) or any other item that we could identify. The goldish "???" item is also a mystery to us. We double checked all luggage, purses, jewelry (etc) that we had with us. Nothing had anything even remotely similar on it. We also have no clue as to the semi-transparent object in the lower center of the picture.

All of the other pictures on this roll of film were completely normal, including the pictures on both sides of this one.

At the time this was taken, I was already interested in this type of phenomena but had not studied it. At that time, I had no idea what the smoky type of stuff in this photo was called. After I began to do some research on the subject, I saw other photos with this same phenomena in it. It was at that point that I found the term that applies to this: ectoplasm. The white object is also very similar to what can be seen in other ghost/energy/unexplained phenomena photographs.
