1 Peter 5:7 in the amplified Bible states it well when it says, "Casting the whole of your care - all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all - on Him; for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully." Some people seem to get a certain amount of help just thinking of the fact that God knows and He understands, but they still hold onto their cares, and they don't get the deliverance that they need. It is not enough, as far as deliverance is concerned, to know that He knows and He understand and cares. We must do what He says to do, and this is; cast all of our cares, all of our anxieties, and all of our worries on Him because He cares for us. This the prayer of commitment, the prayer of casting or rolling our cares, our burdens, our anxieties, our worries on Him. Psalm 37:5 says,"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this." You commit your way to the Lord, you roll your care, your way upon Him. He does not want His children to be full of worry, full of anxiety, burdened down with the cares of life, bowed down with anxiety. We know we have to think about some things concerning tomorrow, but the thought is that He doesn't want us to be filled with anxiety about tomorrow, and filled with worry about tomorrow, and burdened down with care about tomorrow. Even though we have to think about it sometimes, we have to make some plans, and some provisions, we can do that carefree, anxiety free, and worry free. Luke 12:22&23 tells us, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes." Verses 25 & 26 say "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" Philippians 4:6 says, "Do not be anxious about anything...." This is something we have to do. Too many times we want to pray and get God to do something about our anxieties. We want to pray and get God to do something about our worries. We want to pray and get God to do something about our cares and concerns. But it won't work. He tell us to do something about them, not Him. As long as we are going to fret and have anxiety about the thing we are praying about, we are nullifying the effects of our praying. We haven't cast it on the Lord, we still have it. If we have it, He doesn't have it. If He has it, we don't have it. If we are still thinking about it, lying awake at night trying to figure it out, tossing from one side to the other in bed, unable to sleep, He doesn't have it. If the devil tries to bring a picture of that care to
our mind, we must put it out immediately and say, "No, I don't have that
devil, I don't have a care. I have turned it over to the Lord.
He has it." He'll work on it while we are sleeping. He never
slumbers or sleeps. We need sleep, but He doesn't. He gives
His beloved sleep. We are His beloved because we are accepted in
the Beloved, the Lord Jesus Christ. So we should sleep.
MY PRAYER
Father, I thank You that I have been delivered from the
power of darkness and into the kingdom of Your dear Son. I commit
to live free from worry in the name of Jesus, for the law of the Spirit
of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
I cast the whole of my cares - all my anxieties, all my worries,
all my concerns, once and for all - on You. You
care for me affectionately and care about me watchfully. You sustain
me. Father, I delight myself in You, and You perfect that which concerns
me. I demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
against the knowledge of You Father, and I take captive every thought to
make it obedient to Christ. I lay aside every weight and the sin
of worry which tries so easily to pull me down. I run with patience
the race that is set before me, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher
of my faith. I thank You Father that You are able to keep that which
I have committed to You. I will think only on those things that are
true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and deserving
of praise. I will not let my heart be troubled. I abide in
Your words and Your words abide in me. Thank You Father, I am carefree.
I walk in that peace which passes all understanding in Jesus' name. Amen
