Jehovah Jireh

Qualities of Jehovah's personality:  He is the revealing One, revealing His ways to us.  He is eternal and changeless.  He is a God of righteousness and holiness Who judges sin.  He is the God Who is full of mercy  ---  our Redeemer.

Jehovah Jireh is the first compound name of Jehovah to appear in the Old Testament.  By calling Himself Jehovah Jireh, He is saying:  "I do not change  --  My ways do not change; therefoore, I desire to meet your needs, just as I met the needs of the children of Israel in their Exodus from Egypt."

When Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac, it was an offering of consecration.  Abraham was making a burnt consecration offering which involves consecrating one's life.  There are times that are set aside in our lives, specifically for the purpose of seeking God and consecrating ourselves totally to Him.

We must hold fast to His Word and promises to us in order to see our reward.  Hold fast to our confession of faith, for God is faithful Who promised.  When praying, believe that God will provide.  Abraham named the place of sacrifice Jehovah Jireh:  "the revealing One Who is more than a Provider."  This name is actually taken from the verb to see in the Hebrew.  It means God has seen ahead and made a provision to fill our need.
