MEDITATIVE THOUGHTS

"I've learned that because God is in me, God is also in the middle of the mess; and I've learned that the mess is there to show me where I'm hanging my hope. Perhaps life on this earth is no longer meant to be perfect, but we were meant to trust the One who is. And the mess is intended to drive us back to the only sure hope we can have." --Jon Walker and Gary Thomas

Never forget, the Bible tells us that there is "a time to laugh." (Ecclesiastes 3:4) When we laugh together, we feel united, we are ready to forgive, we begin to love. People cannot hate each other while they are laughing." --From Joyful Living in the Fourth Dimension by Charles L. Allen

"Hope isn't an innate gift that some have and others don't. It's nurtured as we strive to embody God's love in the midst of overwhelming obstacles. Hope energizes patient endurance and invites me to celebrate the seeds of God's kingdom taking root." --Susan Classen
"Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." -- 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Happy is the family that knows God's will. For the will of God is found in loving and helping one another - not in turning aside to admire God, while forgetting the people who are the crown of His creation. God has given us the commandment that we should love one another. When we love one another, we are doing the will of God. - Author unknown

"Life is a splendid gift. There is nothing small in it. For the greatest grow by God's law from the smallest. But to live your life you must discipline it. You must not fritter it away. Make your thoughts, your words, your actions work toward the same end - not self but God and others." --Florence Nightingale

It's always good to get back to the basics ... like sharing our hearts and caring for each other. - Janet L. Weaver

"It's the little things that make up the richest part of the tapestry of our lives" - Author Unknown

"The things that matter the most in this world, they can never be held in our hand." - Gloria Gaither

"To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us - and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence a gift of grace." - Thomas Merton

"Everyone was meant to share God's all-abiding love and care; He saw that we would need to know a way to let these feelings show....So God made hugs." -Jill Wolf

This idea of self-love raises not a few Christians' eyebrows, because we know that Christians are taught to deny themselves. The problem is we have confused self-hood with selfishness. We should appreciate our selfhood, which is the product of His creative genius and our uniqueness, which is part of His eternal plan. We must appreciate the worth that accrues to our beings because of His love, which made us children of the living God. In fact, if we love God and are committed to Him and His purposes, we have no alternative to being concerned for our own well-being as the persons He made, redeemed, gifted, and called. --From Spirit Life, by D. Stuart Briscoe

In one gift, God gave us all He had so that we would have all we need.

Jesus at his baptism took the sin of mankind unto himself, assuredly not to become party to the sin, but to share the shame and pain; and by absorping the sin into the whiteness of his own love, to redeem sinners. He repented with men as man, to redeem men in God. --G.A. Buttrick

"Every morning is a fresh opportunity to find God's extraordinary joy in the most ordinary places." --Janet L. Weaver

Religion is humanity reaching for God. Faith is merely taking the hand of God, who is reaching out to us. This is the good news of Christianity. --Author unknown

"From the point of view of a Christian spirituality, it is important to stress that every human being is called upon to be healer...We all are healers who can reach out to offer health, and we all are patients in constant need of help." - Henri J.M. Nouwen

"Love is extravagant in the price it is willing to pay, the time it is willing to give, the hardships it is willing to endure, and the strength it is willing to spend. Love never thinks in terms of 'how little' but always in terms of 'how much.' Love gives, love knows, and love lasts. -Joni Eareckson Tada

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: it's only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." --Antoine De Saint-Exupery

"Our vocation is to belong to Jesus so completely that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. What you and I must do is nothing less than put our love for Christ into practice. The important thing is not how much we accomplish, but how much love we put into our deeds every day. That is the measure of our love for God." --Mother Theresa

"We have no control over when or how we will die. We must instead take responsibility for what we do have control over - how we choose to live." -- Erwin McManus
