ORDERS 1. All Pilots are required to make themselves familiar with these orders and carry them out to the fullest extent possible. 2. Pilots will conduct themselves as Marine Officers at all times in order to always bring credit upon our Country, Corps and Squadron. 3. Pilots will not use vulgar or degrading language, either over the radio (Roger Wilco) or while communicating via landline, (chat session, email), or any other communication platform. 4. Cheating of any type will not be tolerated. It will result in an immediate Dishonorable Discharge from VMF-214. This action will be posted on the Members' Page and left in place as long as VMF-214 is active. 5. Piloting of MOD aircraft while in VMF-214 uniform is prohibited. Such violation will result in administrative action as determined by the Squadron CO. (MOD's are defined as any aircraft that has it's air or dp file altered from its original configuration to create unrealistic flight or damage performance.) 5. Intentional ditching or bailing out of ones aircraft during an organized mission is not permitted. Returning to the Ready Room to avoid being shot down is also prohibited. Continue to fly and fight the plane, draw the opponents fire from your fellow pilots. Your opponent will not know your problem, ie; no ammo, damage, or lack of fuel. Let your fellow pilots know your situation. Marines never leave their fellow Marines behind. Viloation of this order will result in serious 'Administrative Action' as determined by the Squadron CO, up to and possibly including a Bad Conduct Discharge. 6. Arguing and or abusive conduct with other squadron members in a public or private forum is forbidden . If there is a disagreement then members will use a private chat room to resolve the matter in a professional and dignified manner. Anything other than professional conduct brings discredit on VMF-214, and causes morale and internal discipline problems. Violations will be dealt with by the CO and may result in discharge from the squadron, as determined by the CO. Members observing such conduct by another member while in the Zone will bring it to the attention of their Chain of Command as soon as possible. Complaints received from other commands or pilots will be investigated and the appropriate action taken as determined by the investigation. 7. Joining another command, squadron, or unit of CFS or CFS 2 while a member of VMF-214 will result in a less than Honorable Discharge. 8. Disobeying a lawful order from a senior officer will result in administrative action up to demotion in grade, or a Bad Conduct Discharge, as determined by the CO. 9. Violating the Chain of Commmand, and abuse of email use, ie; sending squadron-wide messages without approval of the responsible staff officer is prohibited and will be dealt with as directed by the CO. 10. Spies and/or Imposters will be dealt with to the fullest extent possible. Members suspecting this type of activity will inform their Chain of Command immediately, and break from contact with this individual (or individuals). Members will note the individuals zone name and provide it to the S-2 Officer when submitting their report. A written protest report will be filed with the Zone Managers, and every attempt made to identify the individual and his unit. (Being on War time footing we expect our opponents to conduct surveillance and recon missions on us, but to join us under false pretense, or pass oneself off as a member of this squadron is not acceptable and will not be tolerated !!! ) 11. Whining and complaining is conduct unbecoming an officer and is not acceptable or tolerated! Members of VMF-214 are expected to conduct themselves as mature adults. We are serious about our membership and we believe that our attention to detail creates a challenging and fun environment in which to operate. Conducting yourself in any manner less than professional not only distracts the other members from proper performance of the missions of the squadron, but also, destroys any degree of Esprit de Corps! PROTOCOLS 1. Protocols are those customs and courtesies that all Marines follow in their day-to-day conduct. This section will be updated as required, and members are to be familiar with that which is expected of them as Marines of VMF-214. 2. All VMF-214 Marines will always render the correct VMF-214 salute when greeting senior squadron members or senior officers from other commands. (When in doubt salute) A correct VMF-214 salute is indicated by: S! Semper Fi. Some squadrons use a variation of this theme such as; ~S~. This will be accepted as a salute from them, but will be returned with the correct salute for VMF-214. Senior Officers will always return a salute from VMF-214 junior members and non-members alike. If any member enters a room on the zone where other pilots' ranks are unknown said pilot will always render a salute to show professional courtesy as a member of VMF-214. If the member is out of uniform then this protocol is not required, unless that member is meeting a senior officer of VMF-214 and both are known to each other by their non-VMF-214 call-sign. 3. When departing from a zone room, mission, or training session, all members will render a salute followed by one of the following salutations; Do or Die, OORAH 214!, Death Before Dishonor, or Semper Fi . 4. All members are reminded that we are representing a Famous and Honored Marine Fighting Squadron, not only from the past but which is a current Active Duty Squadron (VMA-214). It is our duty to conduct ourselves in a manner that shows dignity and respect for these Marines! |
