Music Fun

Just a brief history of music in Zelda games.

The Whistle: the whistle appeared in the first game.  It's purpose was to summon a whirlwind that will bring you to the nearest labyrinth.  Kind of dull, and the music annoying, but it was the first.  We established that there is magic in music.

The Flute: Link likes these wind instruments.  This is the only time the instrument is not associated with warping.  Instead, it just moved a spider.  How dull.  But it leads us to...

The Flute (revisited): In Link to the Past, Link found another flute.  It looked more like an ocarina, and it summoned a bird.  The song sounded better, and it had a longer, "cut scene" version.  Music was a necessity in this game, and a (small) part of the plot.  But it was becoming more important.

The Ocarina: Link's Awakening brought us the lovely ocarina.  Not only did it have this priceless item, but it also had 3 songs on it.  You could pick your song!  Besides, music was also important, seeing as you had to collect instruments as your main goal.  But it was nothing compared to the Ocarina of Time

The Ocarina of Time:
Here we have great music.  12 songs that are in the game plus one you make up on your own!  Once again, warping played an integral part for the ocarina.  Also, it was an important part of the plot, as I'm sure you all know.  But the best part is, you could make up your own music.  All you need is a little musical knowledge and this guide right here.  If you play a song to Pierre when you are young, you will here it at the end of the game. And the future... well, Majora's Mask will bring us new instruments, and they aren't wind either.  Thus, the music of Zelda becomes more important as time goes on.
