Tips, Tricks, and Helpful Information
Get the downward thrust as soon as you can.  In fact, you may want to get it before you get the hammer, for it is very useful against those alligator enemies.  To get it without the hammer, cross Death Mountain and enter the area that looks like the original Zelda map.  Go to the far right and go up the path.  Go through the cave (it's not very hard) and then cross the bridge.  Stay on the road until you get past the graveyard, the go north to the next road, then head east.

Knocking people on the head with the downward thrust is fun and easy.  It's also quicker then attacking them normally..

You automatically raise a level by placing a crystal in the statue.  If you are close to raising a level after defeating the boss, you may want to consider raising your level before you put the crystal in.

There are a few places where you receive an extra life.  They never come back, so choose when you want to use them wisely.

If you gain a level in either life or magic, you get your life or magic bars filled as well.  Thus, if you are about to gain a level in magic, use life, shield, jump, or anything else that might be necessary in the screen you are in.

Before you enter any dungeon except the first and last, hit the ironknuckle statue.  A red magic jar or ironknuckle will appear.  If it's an ironknuckle, kill it if you want to, and then leave and reenter.  If it's a magic jar, use life until your bar is full.  Then pick up the jar.  Repeat this until you have full life and magic.

The blue birds in the great palace are difficult.  However, there is one place where there are stone barriers.  Climb to the top of it and crouch down.  If the blue bird appears, he will jump up, but won't quite make it to your level.  Just thrust out your sword a few times and he will die.

Blue ironknuckles aren't necessarily worth the points they give you.  Running away or through them is sometimes the best option.

POW bags are good.  Pick them up whereever you find them.

If you are looking for experience points near the end of the game, go to the giant forest in the southern part of the East continent.  Fight the weaker enemies.  The yellow lizard things are easier than the red, yet give you more points.

More will appear after I play the game again.
