Bhimashankar
A very important Jyotirling of Shiva and hence a famous pilgrim site on the ghats. It has a beautiful temple and a huge bell. The bell is a relic of the Portuguese times. Buses ply directly to the temple from BOMBAY and PUNE. This spot is great for a family pilgrimages if you have your own vehicle.

Reach KARJAT Railway station, take a bus to KHANDAS. |

After a flat walk of 2 kilometers, a track climbs up steeply along a small spur to the first plateau where PADAR KILLA is situated. |

Along traverse to the north (left) and one reaches village KOLI ( 3 kilometers). A steep and long climb leads to the upper plateau. |

This route is through rock cliffs and at two places wooden ladders help to over come the cliffs making this a trek to remember. |
