Karnala Fort
The
funnel shaped pinnacle of this fort stands out prominently on the
PANVEL–PEN road. It is thickly forested and has been declared a
bird sanctuary, a manmade route leads directly to the funnel. The
45 m thumb shaped funnel rises steeply and has caves at its base. It
has plenty of opportunity for rock climbers. The top commands a grand
view.

Travel to the rest house on the main road of the PANVEL-PEN road. |

A mud track branches off the rest house and a manmade route leads comfortably up to the base of the funnel. |
The Karnala Bird Sanctuary surrounds the fort and it is a treat for nature lovers. It is a hot favorite for people who are driving down on a week end cruise or headed towards Goa.
