BHAJA CAVES

The setting is lush and green and more peaceful than the KARLA caves in the north. These caves dating back to 200 BC, 10 of the 18 caves here are viharas. Cave 12 is an open chaitya and is older than KARLA caves. The last cave on the south side have some fine sculptures. In the monsoons walk a little ahead and come to a small waterfall and enjoy a cool dip.

Reach LONAVLA-MALAVLI Railway station.
Walk to BAJA village (3 Kms) . The BAJA caves are nearby. It is worth a visit as it is very rarely visited. These peaceful Buddhist caves also have a great view and water tanks.
