Maharashtra is a great state, which has great beauty. The history of this state  has been known to not only involve the people of this state but also the British, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the Greeks and even the Egyptians. This state has  many forts, which date back to the 16th Century. We aim to give a  geographical outlook as well as a historical perspective of Maharashtra  through the ages. Photographs may be added later to this guide.  This guide takes you to places like caves, temples, forts, lakes & dams, rivers, sea forts and virgin beaches etc. With the advent of many motor clubs, a lot  of motorists now enjoy long nature drives deep into the countryside. A trip to  the many lakes/dams in Maharashtra can give families great memories that they will cherish for years to come. Four wheel drive vehicles seem to be best suited for this kind of outings. Getting unleaded fuel may be a problem in some areas.

The people of Maharashtra have a long and fascinating history of valour and artistic skill. They are courteous and generally say hello with a ‘Ram Ram'. They are a helpful, kind and a proud race of people. Geographically, Maharashtra is partly tableland and then gently becomes the Sahyadri Mountain  range. Travel in this state is based on the time of the year and the season. Important seasons of the year are the monsoon and winter seasons. The best time to visit Maharashtra is from September to March. Some important festivals of this state are Mahashivaratri and Holi (February / March), and Ganesh Chaturthi and Gokulastami (August / September). Some places in the Sahyadri mountain range are especially wonderful in the monsoons from June to October. We sincerely hope that this web page helps and guides people to the many fascinating destinations in this great state.
