Adding Relevant Information
Erin, my partner believes that passing a federal law banning
animals from performing in circuses is a "colossal demand." I think that
it could work if we had more backing from the government on this issue. I
do agree that it is going to take a lot of support and effort, but it is
not an unthinkable task.
"Would people really get excited to go see
a circus without the animals? I'm not sure. Sure now and then it's fun to
see human stunts on the trapeze but when it comes down to it, it's all about
the animal," Erin said. The problem with this statement is that it
is an opinion with no basis. True, animals have been performing at circuses
for a long time, but can't tradition be broken? Animal-free circuses make
a lot of money on their trapeze acts and people all across the world go to
see them perform. I believe this an unfair statement, and therefore, can
not apply it to my Website.
Erin pointed out that I exaggerated
that, "Animals are abused everyday," I agree, this is a slightly exaggerated
statement, I corrected it to say "many animals are abused everyday." I believe
my statement is stronger and more credible now. She also believes that
the government is doing all that it can to protect circus animals. How does
she know what the government is doing? Even though the government has laws
protecting animals doesn't mean they are inforced. The main idea of my Website
is to show the audience what the government is not inforcing. This
can be shown, by allowing animals to be used and abused in circuses, which
are supposed to be regulated by the government.
Professor Feller suggested that my Webpage was "highly
emotional, even with multiple exclamation points..." I edited the site, removing
all of the exclamation points and rewrote my first page to make it accessible
for anybody to use. I toned it down, trying to appeal to both sides. I also
mentioned that audience members should support the ban on circus animals,
by contacting their local legislative body and to lobby for the ethical treatment
of animals.
