Sitting by the pool,
Watching the water lap my feet...
Watching the children play.
There's my baby girl,
Right over there:
She splashes and laughs.
Brown eyes and curls in her hair,
Bright smile,
Little fingers and tows.
I lean back,
The sun hits my face.
I look back on all my yesterdays...
Mistakes made, places seen,
Experiences treasured, and lessons learned
There's my baby girl,
Right over there:
Bright brown eyes and bouncing curls.
She looks over at me and smiles,
She waves at me and says
"Hi mama, look at me!"
I smile and wave back thinking:
'God she looks like her daddy.'
'If only.'
But What ifs and if onlys
Will only make a person mad
There's no point in dwelling
On what might have been
When I've got my baby girl,
Sitting right over there.
