The Music Man was presented by The Little Theatre of Danville August 23-25 2002 at Carrington Pavilion, the new outdoor amphitheatre located at The Crossing at the Dan in Danville. The pavilion boasts a huge covered stage, with covered seating for nearly 1,200 people. The production required nearly 90 people, including cast, crew and support personnel, and played to a total audience of over 1,200 people over the three-night run. The Music Man was the first-ever performance in Carrington Pavilion, which had been completed just weeks prior to the production. It was also unique in that The Little Theatre of Danville collaborated with the Danville Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department (which manages the pavilion) to produce the performance. Members of the Danville Symphony Orchestra, directed by Charles Ellis, provided the musical accompaniment for the show. On the final performance night, members of the George Washington High School "Marching Eagles" band provided a stunning finale to the show, playing "76 Trombones" while marching through the audience. |
