MINNESOTA TIMBERWORTS

The October 2001 Rochester Homebrew Club Newsletter

Next Meeting

October 13 at James & Brenda White’s residence

Directions:

Oktoberfest at the White's

We will once again be celebrating Oktoberfest at James' and Brenda's house.  Brenda will be fixing some tasty food, but you are welcome to bring any German dish (That's food Ken, not a girl) and some beer.  If you have neither, come anyway.  The VanVugts are bringing spatzel.   These celebrations will start anytime after 5:30, which is the time I stop cleaning and start drinking.

Directions From Highway 52:  Go south on 52 until you get to the Marion Road exit.  Cross over the bridge (Left) and travel about a 1/4 mile to the bottom of the hill and then take a right and an immediate left onto 50th Ave.  50th is also known as County 11.  Go about a mile until you see my mail box (2920 50th Ave).  My drive way is right across from the mailbox (East side).  Park on the lawn somewhere.

Directions from East Circle Drive or Highway 14 East:  Take East Circle south until it ends at Highway 14, go left (East).  Take Highway 14 a couple miles until it intersects with 50th Ave (County 11) and take a right

(south).  My place is on the other side of the really big hill in front of you.  Look for the mailbox (2920) and take a left into the driveway.

Any questions, just yell...

James.

Other submitted pieces and bits

From Dave Berg:

I have created a new mailing list for the Minnesota Craft Brewer's Guild.  The list will provide information on upcoming Guild events, events at our member's establishments, and whatever else we want to advertise.  I

expect that it will be quite a low traffic list.

If you would like to be part of the mailing list, send an email to

majordomo@www.mncraftbrew.org

with "subscribe mcbg" in the body of the message (leave out the quotes!)

To unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe mcbg" in the body of the message.

Cheers!

President, Minnesota Craft Brewer's Guild

Head Brewer, Water Tower Brewing Company

From Pam King:

The club has decided to purchase 50 new club glasses.  We are going to get them from Dave.  They are the glasses used at the Autumn Brew Review.

From James White:

Mark Ingham and I took a quick trip up to Blue Max to round out our beer collections a little bit more.  They have All Saints Belgian Golden Ale(brewed by Riva Brewery, Dentergem, Belgium) on sale for $4.99 a six pack.  Had one last night after the trip and it's very drinkable.  They also had Eggenberg Ur Bock 23 for $1.99 a bottle.  They have a few cases left (one less than before we got there).  Brad's replacement (Tim?) commented that they will no longer be able to get Hair of the Dog products.  Not sure if that is permanent, or just a temporary restriction.

From Ron Elshaug(Pam sez he’s a birthday boy on Oct 6th):

Something for the next Newsletter! Although I wouldn't recommend buying Bud!

Sometimes, good financial advice is easy to take..........

"If one year ago you bought $1000 worth of Nortel stock, it would now be worth $49.

If on the same day you bought $1000 of Budweiser (the beer,  not the stock), drank it all, and traded in the cans for a nickel each, you  would have $79.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily."

I didn't author it, but I like it.
