I asked one of the guys I work with if Easter is a Religious Holiday in New Zealand
"Yes, absolutely. We spend the weekend stuffing ourselves full of Chocolate Bunnies"
Last week, I got as far as Puaro Bay (just around the corner from Diamond Harbour). The road turns Sharp Right then head up into them there hills...
This weekend Karen has arrived, so it is time to explore further. "Port Levy" is where we are going, a name I haven't heard uttered by the locals. As we climb over to the next Crinkly Bit of the volcano we rise almost to the snow line - just 700 metres above sea level.
Near Port Levy on Pa Road (I guess they were running short of letters that day).
As I have said before, not too bad if you like that sort of thing. The row of trees all turn out to be on Horomaka island, which is tiny.
Back to Lyttelton for Sunday morning stroll and breakfast. This is a working harbour and quite interesting to watch.
Nothing fancy for breakfast, but this is it. Very cosy and friendly cafe with almost a Wild West facia.
For those lonely nights ladies...
And don't get any ideas about turning up in this town and being nasty...
This is one back street bar where they just don't allow that sort of thing.
Sunday morning band practice. An interesting group in the back of a coffee house
We went to visit the historic time ball and found this flag lying around. Karen wanted to wrap herself naked in it but it was a bit too cold.
Sunday evening walk around the block. The local kids went for a paddle. There is also adult on coming traffic if you look carefully.
Final tread of the day, just above the area we were walking.
