¶ WHAT IS THE CLUB OF BUDAPEST?
The Club of Budapest is an international non-profit association made up of Honorary Members (world-renowned artists and writers associated with spiritual and creative fields); Creative Members (coming from artistic, literary, spiritual, and humanitarian fields); Supporting and Institutional Members (Individuals and organizations that agree with our aims and support our activities by participating in a personal, organizational, or financial manner).
The members of the Club of Budapest concentrate on finding as many examples, goals, behaviours, and tangible values as possible that will open the way towards a more human and more bearable future.
In addition to its members, the Club has developed an international network of regional centres in many different countries so that people can meet for the purpose of working together to test new ideas. The primary aim of the Club of Budapest is to launch a dynamic cross-cultural movement that could serve to help people find new answers, adopt new attitudes, and establish new priorities.
Through artistic sensibility, and the dedication of its members, it is the Clubs duty to create the prior conditions that will lead to cultural and spiritual renewal.
In order to reach this ambitious aim, it is essential to work towards a consciousness that would enable us to better solve the problems facing individuals and societies rather than the consciousness that still currently predominates and motivates peoples behaviour in the majority of the world.
The aims and objectives of the Club of Budapest are human and universal; they go hand in hand with those of the Club of Rome and other research, global thought, and public interest groups or institutions.
By stressing the creative, intuitive, and aesthetic aspects of human perception and consciousness, the Club of Budapest is a unique source in the continuous struggle carried out by people and organizations that are aware that a social, economic, and ecological challenge requiring adjustment and transformation lies ahead for humanity on the eve of the twenty-first century.
¶ WHAT DOES IT DO?
The Club of Budapest is made up of artists, creative individuals, and inventors who have a strong sense of their responsibility in laying the foundations for our common future. It brings them together in a place where they may share their vision with the public, with young people as well as with decision makers. Many illustrious artists and celebrities have this same desire but what is lacking for them is the opportunity to meet to exchange their views and create a shared effort. The Club of Budapest allows for this. It has created an international network of people from all walks of life.
Artistic creativity leads to a new vision of the human condition by giving birth to new values and ideals. Although not many people are aware of this, our thought and behavioural patterns are deeply influenced by art as well as by art and design. Artists and creative individuals do not just cause admiration or controversy, but can also breath life into a new manner of seeing and thinking about the world as we know it. Their work can inspire the thoughts of political and industrial leaders as well as the perceptions and feelings of the public. They can show the way and help us evolve towards a planetary consciousness of more suitable values, attitudes, and behaviour so that our actions may have a positive impact on the orientations which will decide our future.
Through its actions, projects, and networks, the Club of Budapest will not only deepen the understanding of the expression "planetary consciousness" but will also attempt to experience such consciousness by linking it to our daily lives in such a way that we can truly use it to make a real difference in the practical dimension of our existence.
