$10 Trillion Popsicle
Tuesday, April 1, 2008 7:47 PM
T.O.C.

Economics seems to me to be one of the most significant areas of development in America of late. I’d like to try a concise summary of where I think American Economics is today.

In the eight year period of the current administration, the federal debt will have run from zero to ten trillion dollars. In the process of accruing this debt, we have what an accountant would say is the other side of the transaction - $10 Trillion in wealth, or equity, or assets – an equal amount to the good.

Our economy has been boosted and literally every stop has been pulled out. We have experienced significant tax cuts, which inspire economic growth and development. We have experienced record-breaking spending, which contributes to economic growth. We have printed huge sums of new currency, which adds liquidity and finances economic growth and development. We are seeing a 2008 tax rebate which helps with growing the economy (like the tax cuts). The prime lending rate continues to drop through the floor, and each time it spurs more new economic development. We’ve done, it seems, everything that we can do to spur a greater and larger economy.

We now have the largest economy in the history of the US, and of the world. We’ve never gotten it this big, but some folks might wonder how we did that. As I see it, a $10 Trillion federal injection into our economy is too huge to discount. (This is the point I’m trying to make – if you can’t create a larger economy with a $10 Trillion injection, I’ll throw you into a ditch and shoot you myself – an amoeba couldn’t screw that up).

I don’t envy the winner of the up and coming election. As I see it, we’ve had a $10 Trillion pacifier stuffed in our mouths, and now it’s over (except some of the trickling and that tax rebate), and now we’re just sitting on $10 Trillion in debt, the likes of which will produce hundreds of millions of dollars every day in accrued interest. We can’t grow the economy any further – we’ve pulled out all the stops. We also aren’t going to go down lightly, it seems – we’ve pulled out all of the stops.

America will not be able to sustain its present economy. We’ve had to pull every string to get it as big as it is. It will have to get smaller, and a great deal of paper is going to have to be burned. There will probably be significant inflation, and I would guess the interest rates will have to be set more responsibly.

The history on this also seems simple to me. We used to have a gold standard, and then we went to a fiat money system. When we switched over to the fiat system, did we add a new measure of internal checks and balances? I ask this, because with the gold standard, the treasury doesn’t have power, really. But with the fiat system, the president and the secretary of the treasury can do all of the following… a) tell us what CPI and inflation figures are, b) tell us what our money supply is, c) print new currency, and d) set the prime rate. I see no internal checks and balances in this, and I think the treasury is functioning much like an unchecked power. Our monetary implementation needs checks and balances, because the US dollar is somebody’s bitch (and the US economy to boot).

That's the way it seems to me. :-)

An Open Letter to Boston U

We live in such amazing times! Just to think, here we are in a day and age that makes me wonder if any Americans have ever faced the kinds of realities we're facing today... ? Half the population of this country doesn't believe the official 911 story, but have we ever experienced that condition before? Not that I can think of. Witness the revolution.

Here's the link... A letter to BU from a grad student withdrawing from a grad program there (in protest). Now you can see what it means to a part of a real revolution. Something that takes guts and balls and grit, and faces insurmountable opposition. Now THAT, my friend, is a REAL revolution! (Not like that fake stuff where a bunch of wanna-be hippies live in the desert for a month and then quit- no, friend, the real thing is just so much harder and so much scarier than that. For all we know, this man will pass in the wind, but that doesn't stop him, and that doesn't stop the rest - the people who fight the good fight, and who face the opposition each day, and who are given no end in sight. Now, methinks, you know it's real.

http://911blogger.com/node/14678

I found the response by prof. Kevin O to also be very insightful, regarding grant money.

And I would add that I think it would be the White House's falsification of intel/data and coercing of the American people into the Middle East that presents the best case for impeachment - Cheney first. This BU fellow may not have caught that one. Alas (sigh) dem leader Nancy Pelosi refuses to impeach. Will somebody please give Bush a blowjob so we can do this? Failure to impeach seems, imho, surreal considering the circumstances.

Will the world investigate 911?

Or a global parliamentary body? Here's an article about a fellow who wants to make a move. I can't find a word about this in any major news source, but there are accompanying videos if you're interested in witnessing it's veracity.

UN Could Lead New 9/11 Investigation, Says Japanese MP Fujita says potential move afoot to have global body probe suspicions surrounding terror attacks

Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet Monday, March 31, 2008

Japanese member of Parliament Yukihisa Fujita told the Alex Jones Show yesterday that a potential new investigation of the 9/11 cover-up could be led by global parliamentarians he has been in contact with, or even by the United Nations itself.

Fujita, an MP for the Japanese Democratic Party, and a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature), presented evidence which contradicted the official 9/11 story during a widely publicized Japanese Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee meeting in January of this year.

Following Fujita's presentation in the Japanese Diet, he also took part in a 9/11 truth conference at the EU Parliament in Brussels on February 26th which was hosted by Italian MEP Giullietto Chiesa (both presentations can be viewed at the end of this article).

"This is something Parliamentarians of various countries could ask - I was in Europe meeting with European MP's and they are also thinking about asking the UN to investigate, so these kind of efforts need to be done internationally," said Fujita, adding that he had visited eleven different European countries in an attempt to garner support for the move.

Fujita said the reaction to his presentation of the evidence during a session of the Japanese Parliament was encouraging, adding that several members of his party were already aware of some of the issues surrounding the incredulity of the official story.

The Japanese MP said that he first began researching 9/11 around two years ago after watching documentaries and looking at evidence online.

"At the beginning I thought I couldn't believe, this can't be true, but then last year when I heard more about various facts and photos of the collapse of the seven building (WTC 7) and the put options conducted before 9/11 - I began to see that there was serious evidence that a cover-up might have been involved," Fujita told the Alex Jones Show.

The MP personally visited the former President of Germany's Bundesbank (presumably Ernst Welteke), who admitted that suspicious insider trading on American and United Airlines did take place immediately before 9/11.

Fujita said the deaths of 24 Japanese citizens during as a result of the attack in New York spurred him to ask why no cause of death had been properly ascertained by the Japanese government as would be routine, and why no DNA records had been recovered.

Fujita said he was currently engaged in a back and forth question and answer process with the Japanese Prime Minister in an attempt to get questions about 9/11 answered.

The MP said that people had warned him to be careful about asking questions about 9/11 because it could put his life in danger.

Fujita will today report back on his meetings in Europe and Sydney to fellow members of his party in an attempt to achieve further momentum in attaining consensus for a comprehensive investigation of 9/11 led by independent global Parliamentarians and not by Bush administration cronies, as was the case with the 9/11 Commission.

Fwd: ... the global price of rice has risen

Drastically in the last two weeks, and it has doubled in the past year. One interesting note... A rising price in food causes inflation. This is a global cause - everybody eats. More $ to eat = inflation.

Rice Jumps to Record on Philippine Imports, Curbs on Exports
By Glenys Sim and Danielle Rossingh
April 8 (Bloomberg) -- Rice climbed to a record April 8 (Bloomberg) -- Rice climbed to a record for a fourth day as the Philippines, the biggest importer, announced plans to buy 1 million tons and some of the world's largest exporters cut sales to ensure they can feed their own people.
Rice, the staple food for half the world, gained 2.4 percent to $21.50 per 100 pounds in Chicago, double the price a year ago. Philippine President Gloria Arroyo announced two rice tenders today and pledged to crack down on hoarding. Anyone found guilty of ``stealing rice from the people'' will be jailed, she said.
``We're in for a tough time,'' Roland Jansen, chief executive officer of Pfaffikon, Switzerland-based Mother Earth Investments AG, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television from Zurich today. Unless prices decline ``you will have huge problems of daily nutrition for half the planet.'' Mother Earth holds about 4 percent of its $100 million funds in the grain.
China, Egypt, Vietnam and India, accounting for more than a third of global rice exports, curbed sales this year to protect domestic stockpiles. The World Bank in Washington says 33 nations from Mexico to Yemen may face ``social unrest'' after food and energy costs increased for six consecutive years.
The Philippines, which imports about 15 percent of its rice, is tightening controls over domestic sales and buying more overseas. The government's rice tenders are in April and May.
``I am leading the charge'' against any officials and businessmen who divert supplies or distort the price of the staple food, Arroyo said in a televised speech today.
``The need to avert social tensions from high food prices'' has made ``food sufficiency even more urgent,'' Abah Ofon, a soft-commodities analyst with Standard Chartered Plc, said in a report yesterday. Food importers may not be able to meet their needs because of the export limits, Dubai-based Ofon said.
Philippines Imports
The Philippines may raise imports of milled rice by as much as 42 percent to 2.7 million tons this year from 1.9 million tons in 2007 to discourage speculation by local traders, Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap said March 26.
The price of rice from Thailand, the world's biggest supplier, may climb another 25 percent this year, said exports including Vichai Sriprasert, former president of the Thai Rice Exporters' Association.
Rice seeding in the U.S. is behind last year's pace because of flooding in growing regions, the Department of Agriculture said yesterday. Farmers in six states have planted 11 percent of their crop versus 21 percent a year earlier. In Arkansas, the biggest rice-producing state, about 2 percent of the crop was seeded, compared with 21 percent.
Commodity prices are posting their seventh year of gains. The UBS Bloomberg Constant Maturity Commodity Index of 26 raw materials more than tripled in the past six years as global demand led by China outpaced supplies of metals and crops.
Global Inflation
Rising food prices are fueling global inflation. Wholesale costs in India rose 7 percent in the week ended March 22, the fastest pace in more than three years.
Soaring prices could lead to increased unrest, such as in Haiti recently, the United Nations said in a report yesterday.
Four people died in two days of rioting last week over food prices in Haiti, the western hemisphere's poorest country, the organization said on its Web site.
``What we see in Haiti is what we're seeing in many of our operations around the world -- rising prices that mean less food for the hungry,'' the report said, citing the United Nations World Food Program's executive director Josette Sheeran.
Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Mauritania, Mozambique and Senegal have also experienced unrest in the last several weeks related to food and fuel prices, according to the report.
Half Portions
``We are starting to see conflict and civil unrest,'' Francisco Blanch, who heads global commodities research in London at Merrill Lynch & Co., said in an interview on Bloomberg Television today. ``Central banks will have to start taking measures to slow the inflation pain down.''
The Philippine government had asked fast-food chains and restaurants to serve half portions of rice to cut waste, farm secretary Yap said on March 19.
Wheat traded in Chicago has more than tripled in three years, also threatening social stability. As many as seven people died from exhaustion or in fights while waiting in bread lines in Egypt, according to police reports. Italians boycotted pasta and bread last September and Pakistan sent troops to guard flour mills in January.
Standard Chartered yesterday increased its 2008 rice forecast by 12 percent to $18.50 per 100 pounds. Rice for May delivery was trading at $21.43 per 100 pounds on the Chicago Board of Trade as of 11:54 a.m. in London.
Stockpiles are at their lowest since the 1980s and demand for the grain has gained 40 percent in two decades, Ofon said.

People and States

The Diaspora is the scattering of the Jews, I believe most often referring to the scattering of Jews over Europe.  After WW II, the US didn't open its doors to the Diaspora any more than it does to Iraqi refugees today, and European countries also did not want to set land aside for these people.  Taking land from Arabs, the matter was settled by expansion of Israel for Jewish immigrants.  Most of the original Palestine is now Israel.

Zionism is the notion that Israel is not just a state, but that it is a Jewish state.  I think that's like saying America is a Christian state.  Of course, some Americans actually think the US is a Christian state.

For interesting material on the differences between people and countries in this case, check some of these links.  Peoples is peoples, everywhere you go, seems to me.  Of course, some places you go can have civil unrest, or even civil war, but other than that, people just tend to be nice.

"Jews against Zionism"

Long list of links: 'jews against zionism"

Israeli flag burnings (at protests):
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/nospeak/index.html

I think Israel is too advanced of a state to just fall into being a religious state, but its also an
eye-opener to me to see Israelis refer to Israelis as first class citizens against others in the world, much like Americans will do, in my readings.  Such as when one Israeli's life is worth a hundred of the other guys.

So, people are people, and governments and governments, and government is a way to hide in the folds of recurring trends and statistics, lumped into action items, and then dispatched upon by government employees, doing it all for the good of the fatherland (whichever one it happens to be), and never being the wiser.  Matters of state do not lend themselves to the individual; they can hide in little bits of societal data, irrelevant in the lives of the individuals. They can also hide in little bits of political or religious ideology, without further depth of real information or insight.

It seems to me that what hides is the people side of Israel in what Americans see.  Opposition to AIPAC and the rest of the pro-Israeli lobbyists and think tanks have squelched men in the highest offices in this land who did not hold pro-Israeli stances, in government and in Universities.

Look deeper into whatreallyhappened.com, and find also that the earliest reports on the two Israeli soldiers taken by Hezbollah in 2006 (which kicked off a war) were actually in Lebanon (AFP, MSNBC, Reuters, others), but later moved to Israel in reports.  I have heard the Israeli soldiers cross the line regularly going into Lebanon.  Well, just remember who they work for, I guess.

America still seems like a land to me where not being pro-Israeli is not a marketable option.

How about a bailout from China?
Monday, April 14, 2008 9:58 AM

The US gets bailouts from the Federal reserve (which makes interest on what it loans - it's a private organization).  The federal reserve also gets 4%, or $4 for every hundred dollar bill they print.  Nice to be those guys, eh?  I digress.

How about a bailout from China?  What are they going to do to keep their best customers happy?  A little speculation, they say, on American consumption going down, and Chinese markets dropped 6% in one day...

At a site - afterdowningstreet.org.  They've got a whole page!  Just over the river, and where I work (in NH), they've got an impeachment resolution in the house working, started by 87 year old Betty Hall. There are a few about efforts in NH at the articles at link...

http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/taxonomy/term/17

From the link, regarding Tim Robbins (20 MB mp3 file) entertaining response to the Broadcast Association...

"Robbins opened his speech "apologizing" to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and other right-wing broadcast pundits: "A few years ago, they told America that because I had different
opinions on the wisdom of going to war, that I was a traitor, a Saddam lover, a terrorist supporter, undermining the troops. I was appealing at the time for the inspectors to have more time to find those Weapons of Mass Destruction. I was a naive dupe of left-wing appeasement.
And how right they were. If I had known then what I know now, if I had seen the festive and appreciative faces on the streets of Baghdad today, if I had known then what a robust economy we would be in -- the unity of our people, the wildfire of democracy that has spread across
the Mideast -- I would never have said those traitorous, unfounded and irresponsible things.
I stand chastened in the face of the wisdom of the talk radio geniuses, and I apologize for standing in the way of freedom."
Lambasting the media for their failure to treat the Bush administration's lies about Iraqi WMDs with the scrutiny they had shown former President Bill Clinton's sex scandal, he calls on the nation's broadcasters to do a better job of upholding their responsibilities to the public."

SiteFS access
Friday, April 18, 2008 2:23 AM
T.O.C.

File Access: how would you do it?  Here's some of the ideas rolling around in my head...  Next, I need to figure if it handles people's needs, or if it contradicts itself, or makes necessary capabilities impossible.

Site FS: Internet Site Server File System

Security Levels:
1)    SiteFS software
2)    User Login
3)    T-Machine Program
4)    Hard-coded workstation ID

SiteFS Software:
This is the simple ability of SiteFS to cache server data files on client machines, such that the user cannot gain direct access to those (raw) files.  The files are cached on the client machine, but they are protected, and can only be seen in interpreted format, e.g. as a video, but not as a raw data file, by using a ‘trusted viewer” program.

User Login:
The login script is generated server-side, and downloaded to the client.  The client provides user ID and password, and the information is securely transmitted back to the server, SSL and all.  From this point forward, when file access occurs, there is an associated user.

T-Machine Program:
This is a dynamically generated program on the server side which can be downloaded to the client machine and run there.  The program audits the client machine’s SiteFS implementation, and if the server finds the implementation to be correct, then the client is designated a “trusted machine”. Short time-outs would prevent hacking in human time (too slow), and the dynamically generated code would oppose hacking in program time.

Hard-coded Machine IDs:
The IP and Mac address of a given workstation can be used to pre-set it for high-level security access, or the rank of “system console”.

File Distribution Levels (one digit codes):
S- System Console, T - Trusted Machine, U- Trusted User, V/W - SiteFS caching, X - Raw access (unsecured), 1 and 2.

S) A file marked ‘s’ for distribution can only be moved to or run on machines designated as system consoles in the server’s rules.
T) A file marked ‘t’ can only be moved to or run on machines designated as trusted machines.
U) A file marked ‘u’ can only be moved to or run on machines with valid member logins, where their encryption and protection may involve the use of the user’s ID and password.
V) A file marked ‘v’ can be moved to any SiteFS cache, but will remain protected, and will enforce the security policy of the server from which it originated.
W) ‘W’ is a second level of ‘V’.  Like ‘V’, the file is protected in its raw form, but ‘w’ allows for two levels of viewer type programs, where desired.
X) A file marked ‘X’ for distribution is publicly available in raw form.
1) One of ‘u’ or ‘t’ is required.
2) Both ‘u’ and ‘t’ are required.

SiteFS Programs:
Every file in SiteFS has a type.  Program files have to be identified as such, and further, as to what kind of programs they are.  Viewers, editors, compilers and session managers need to be identified for security purposes, so they can be listed as trusted or not trusted.  Trusted programs are programs the server trusts for security purposes, such as a “trusted viewer”, where they will not, for example, allow the user to gain raw access to the data file. The distinction of a compiler in this case is its unique ability to receive data files and produce program files, where there is no other way to produce a program file.

Every program runs within another program, such as its working environment.  The environment of a program is its dependency.  The platform upon which an environment runs is its dependency.  When its time to launch a program from SiteFS, that program states its parent program (program environment), and so forth, so that all program dependencies can be downloaded and cached on the client machine, and then run from there.

SiteFS sessions will have to rely on the ability to properly cache programs and whatever environmental dependencies they may have. SiteFS sessions, among other things, are the mechanism for off-loading SiteFS servers by way of session servers.  Now, if 6 people want to play a game (uses a session), then all 6 of those people need to resolve all of the program dependencies.  All of the program files, along with the needed data files, have to be copied to every client machine.  Torrenting sounds like a good method for approaching this demand.

SiteFS data files have types as well.  This introduces a standard of data file types (or formats), where both program and data files can be associated with data file types.

File Read Access:
File access can be marked V or X, for read in a trusted viewer or read raw.  Read access is for what you can do with your copy of the file, not the copy on the server.

File Write Access:
A given level of access can be “lock” or “replace”.  “Lock” is the user’s ability to stop anyone from editing the original file on the server, whereas “replace” is their ability to also change it.  Writing capabilities to a SiteFS server involves “binding”, which is a process that one person can start by locking it, and then another person with the right permissions can then approve of the replacement action (allowing it to happen).

Binding is the mechanism wherein any set of rules can be configured.  For example, a write operation may require that 3 persons of different, particular capacities have to sign off on a write operation before SiteFS will proceed with it. Files not yet written, but which have been checked in, are in “the bind”, waiting for approval to be written.

File Access – Overall:
Setting up access for a SiteFS file allows different levels of access to different users. Each line entry in a file’s access list is a person or group of people, or it could be a distribution level.  Access is specified as: distribution level, read access and write access, for a given user of group.  Where distribution level is used, there does not have to be a user or group specification.  Where user or group is specified, there does not have to be a distribution level.

One other type that seems so handy as to be a necessity is that of “Owner”. For the owner of a file, as a subset of “user”, only the owner of the file has “owner” permissions.  Other line items can follow this, such as setting permissions for other users.

SiteFS access - directories
Friday, April 18, 2008 3:01 PM
T.O.C.

Forgotten note, that about does it.  Ok.  So this is where I'm at!

Cheers -
Mark

Standard Directories:
These are for site administrators to help organize their stuff.
PUBLIC – Map to your domain name (web server)
SYSTEM – Internal (very little calling here, it seems). T-Machine program generation.
NAMED – User directories, and the like.  Each subdirectory here can be mapped to a domain name (or URL), can be made public, or can be kept within the realm of user access.
CACHE – copies of files from other SiteFS servers, organized by domain name.
BIND – files checked in, awaiting the final write operation.  S.O.P. may run virus or porn scans or the like prior to the final write operation.  The new files will also need a secure home (on the site server) prior to being checked in - the BIND.

The following paper has passed the scientific peer-review process, and is now in publication! Congrats to those who spent the past year working hard to pull it off...

"Fourteen Points of Agreement with Official Government Reports on the
World Trade Center Destruction"

Can be found at the bottom of ...
http://www.bentham.org/open/tociej/openaccess2.htm
Or, presently, as the top article here...
http://www.bentham.org/open/index.htm

Snips from the paper (which is actually only 6 pages).  "Tongue-in-cheek" appears to be having it's day...

1. WTC 7 Collapse Issue
FEMA: “The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue”

"...We agree that FEMA’s best firebased hypothesis “has only a low probability of occurrence.”"

2. Withstanding Jet Impact
NIST: “Both WTC 1 and WTC 2 were stable after the aircraft impact, standing for 102 min and 56 min, respectively. The global analyses with structural impact damage showed that both towers had considerable reserve capacity”

"Yes, we agree..."

3. Pancake Theory Not Supported
NIST: “NIST’s findings do not support the “pancake theory” of collapse, which is premised on a progressive failure of the floor systems in the WTC towers… Thus, the floors did not fail progressively to cause a pancaking phenomenon”

"Agreed: the “pancake theory of collapse” is incorrect and should be rejected."

4. Massive Core Columns
NIST: “...The core columns were designed to carry the building gravity loads and were loaded to approximately 50% of their capacity before the aircraft impact.... the exterior columns were loaded to only approximately 20% of their capacity before the aircraft impact...”

"We totally agree that the WTC Towers included “massive” interconnected steel columns in the cores of the buildings, in addition to the columns in the outside walls. The central core columns bore much of the gravity loads so the Towers were clearly NOT hollow..."

5. Essentially in Free Fall
…As documented in Section 6.14.4 of NIST NCSTAR 1, these collapse times show that: “… the structure below the level of collapse initiation offered minimal resistance to the falling building mass at and above the impact zone. The potential energy released by the downward movement of the
large building mass far exceeded the capacity of the intact structure below to absorb that energy through energy of deformation. Since the stories below the level of collapse initiation provided little resistance to the tremendous energy released by the falling building mass, the building section above came down essentially in free fall, as seen in videos”

"We agree ... that the building “came down essentially in free fall"..."

6. Fire Endurance Tests, No Failure
NIST: “NIST contracted with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to conduct tests to obtain information on the fire endurance of trusses like those in the WTC towers…. All four test specimens sustained the maximum design load for approximately 2 hours without collapsing… (Added Note: these were 2 hour tests - failure did not occur)... the [empirical test] results established that this type of assembly was capable of sustaining a large gravity load, without collapsing, for a substantial period of time relative to the duration of the fires in any given location on September 11

"We agree that NIST had actual fire tests completed and that all four “trusses like those in the WTC towers” survived the fire-endurance testing “without collapsing.”"

7. Fires of Short Duration
NIST: “The initial jet fuel fires themselves lasted at most a few minutes” [4]. “At any given location, the duration of [air, not steel] temperatures near 1,000 °C was about 15 min to 20 min. The rest of the time, the calculated temperatures were near 500 °C or below” [4].

"We agree..."

8. WTC Fires Did Not Melt Steel
NIST: “In no instance did NIST report that steel in the WTC towers melted due to the fires. The melting point of steel is about 1,500 degrees Celsius (2,800 degrees Fahrenheit). Normal building fires and hydrocarbon (e.g., jet fuel) fires generate temperatures up to about 1,100 degrees Celsius (2,000 degrees Fahrenheit). NIST reported maximum upper layer air temperatures of about 1,000 degrees Celsius (1,800 degrees Fahrenheit) in the WTC towers (for example, see NCSTAR 1, figure 6-36)”

"Agreed..."

Thomas Eagar: "...It is argued that the jet fuel burns very hot, especially with so much fuel present. This is not true.... The temperature of the fire at the WTC was not unusual, and it was most definitely not capable of melting steel"

"We are in remarkable agreement..."

9. Destruction of WTC Steel Evidence
NIST: “NIST possesses 236 structural steel elements from the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings. These pieces represent a small fraction of the enormous amount of steel examined at the various recovery yards where the debris was sent... only a tiny fraction of steel was analyzed from the WTC Towers, and none of the WTC 7 steel was analyzed by NIST.

"We agree that only a “small fraction of the enormous amount of steel” from the Towers was spared and the rest was rapidly recycled. The destruction of about 99% of the steel, evidence from a crime scene, was suspicious and probably illegal, hopefully we can agree to that."

10. Unusual Bright Flame and Glowing Liquid (WTC 2)
“NIST reported (NCSTAR 1-5A) that just before 9:52 a.m., a bright spot appeared at the top of a window on the 80th floor of WTC 2, four windows removed from the east edge on the north face, followed by the flow of a glowing liquid. This flow lasted approximately four seconds before subsiding. Many such liquid flows were observed from near this location in the seven minutes leading up to the collapse of this tower”

"We agree and congratulate NIST for including these observations of an “unusual flame...
NIST effectively rules out burning aluminum, because “Aluminum is not expected to ignite at normal fire temperatures…” [3]. Again, we agree."

11. High-Temperature Steel Attack, Sulfidation
FEMA (based on work by a Worchester Polytechnic Institute investigative team): “Sample 1 (From WTC 7)… Evidence of a severe high temperature corrosion attack on the steel, including oxidation and sulfidation with subsequent intergranular melting, was readily visible in the near-surface
microstructure…. Sample 2 (From WTC 1 or WTC 2)… The thinning of the steel occurred by high temperature corrosion due to a combination of oxidation and sulfidation. …The severe corrosion and subsequent erosion of Samples 1 and 2 are a very unusual event. No clear explanation for the source of the sulfur has been identified… A detailed study into the mechanisms of this phenomenon is needed…”

"We agree that the physical evidence for “severe high
temperature corrosion
attack” involving sulfur is compelling..."

12. Computer Modeling and Visualizations
NIST: “The more severe case (which became Case B for WTC 1 and Case D for WTC 2) was used for the global analysis of each tower. Complete sets of simulations were then performed for Cases B and D. To the extent that the
simulations deviated from the photographic evidence or eyewitness reports [e.g., complete collapse occurred], the investigators adjusted the input, but only within the range of physical reality. Thus, for instance…the pulling forces on the perimeter columns by the sagging floors were adjusted...

"We agree that NIST resorted to complex computer simulations and no doubt “adjusted the input” to account for the Towers’ destruction, after the fire-endurance physical tests did not support their preordained collapse theory."

New Civil Engineer (journal): "...A leading US structural engineer said NIST had obviously devoted enormous resources to the development of the impact and fire models. “By comparison the global structural model is not as sophisticated,” he said. “The software used [by NIST] has been pushed to new limits, and there have been a lot of simplifications,
extrapolations and judgment calls”

"We would like to discuss the computer modeling and extrapolations made by NIST and the need for visualizations using numerical and graphical tools to scrutinize and validate the finite-element analysis."

13. Total Collapse Explanation Lacking
NIST: “This letter is in response to your April 12, 2007 request for correction… we are unable to provide a full explanation of the total collapse”

"This admission by NIST after publishing some 10,000 pages on the collapse of the Towers shows admirable candor, yet may come as a bit of a shock to interested parties including Congress, which commissioned NIST to find a full explanation.

We agree that NIST so far has not provided a full explanation for the total collapse. Indeed they take care to explain that their report stops short of the collapse, only taking the investigation up to the point where each Tower “was poised for collapse” [4]. We offer to help find that elusive “full explanation of the total collapse”... "

14. Search for Explosive or Thermite Residues
From a NIST FAQ: [Question: ] “Did the NIST investigation look for evidence of the WTC towers being brought down by controlled demolition?  Was the steel tested for explosives or thermite residues? The combination of thermite and sulfur (called thermate) "slices through steel like a hot
knife through butter." [Answer: ] NIST did not test for the residue of these compounds in the steel”

"We agree; there is no evidence that NIST tested for residues of thermite or explosives..."

Congress: Dems on Iraq
Monday, April 21, 2008 4:04 PM
T.O.C.

Nancy Pelosi, the democratic house leader, is rushing to push through another $178 Billion in funding for efforts in Iraq.  They're calling it a blank check.  Thats like when congress sent 683 tons in $100 bills to Iraq to boost their economy, and didn't require a follow-up.  Where that money went is not accounted for. All we know is that the money appears to have been spread across Iraq ministries, US base commanders, private US-based contractors, and al qaeda.

http://www.democrats.com/pelosi-plans-178-billion-blank-check-for-iraq

Back in the old days, the house of representatives could just cut the purse strings on war, and starve the white house out of its war efforts.  (Iran-Contra excepted)  Nowadays, they don't appear to be performing any function on behalf of the American people.

Nancy Pelosi, the house democratic leader, is bought and paid for many times over.  Washington is functionally bankrupt.  The democratic party is obligated to lead pursuit into impeachment, but with her, they won't do it.  Our economy is being trashed, the world's economy is being trashed with it (in response to American's $10 Trillion check to the planet), and our overall national process is looking like it is completely dysfunctional.

Congress fascinated me.  Voting, by the way, is an imperfect solution.  When we come to voting, it is because we are at an impasse.  And when congress votes, can you hold 1 in 325 responsible?  I think not.  Congress loves to hide.  Me too.

Voting resolves issues that cannot be resolved by any other means, and it does so by way of a sense of preservation of the union.  When 300 reps vote one way, I'm not seeing accountability.  What I'm seeing there is the exercise of 300 people who will not be held for their vote.  Would you hold 1 in 300 responsible?  Methinks not. 1 in 300 is all any citizen of the US has.

Do we watch our own reps?  Most Americans don't even know who their rep is.  I wonder. We're mostly watching the talking heads, putting up celebrities, and taking down the chatterbox of celebrity escapades.  "Celebrities these political figures are", says Yoda.  That guy splits infinitives like the 21st Century may never know.  Meanwhile, we're experiencing a disconnect between representatives and represented.

Ideally, each American is responsible for 2 senators and 1 house representative, as feedback systems go.  It's not happening.  More likely, its a citizen position of "fire everybody".

Pelosi is bought and paid for.  She refuses to bring about impeachment proceedings, and congress is moving like a tank.  It is the opposing parties' responsibility to raise impeachment proceedings.  If the dems can't do it, then it isn't going to happen. We'll have to resort to Wong's School of Impeachment proceedings (ki-yah!)

I envy smaller countries, for their being out of the fray of world hegemony and the ills that may accompany it.  Empires come and go, but the US is so wealthy, I think it takes a while to happen.  Bankruptcy, that is.

We have destroyed the world's economy for years to come, and this is a highly unethical behavior.  You don't, in any responsible manner, tell the world that you'll owe them $10 Trillion, and pay it back when you feel like it.  It destroys third world economies, at the very least, and millions of people starve because of it.

Imho, the money flowing into Iraq is not receiving an ROI (return on investment).  It's being spent, but it's not making Iraq better.  Perhaps if it was bringing about improvement or change, I would find a heart in the matter, but I don't see progress there.  Ironically, the Iraqi condition may improve over time in spite of our presence, but alas, this is only my own opinion.

Imho, congress is a wholly owned subsidiary of more corporations that I can shaka a stick at.  Stay tuned, because we're approaching a summer of protests.  I'll post notes, as I see profound protests rising in the summer of 2008.

Class-action suit against Veterans Affairs Opens - San Fran

Are they crying?  I think there's more here than meets the eye.  Problems with the VA I think cover health care for Veterans overall, and this may open a can of worms in that regard, but also, I think we're talking about bringing public attention to what attention veterans are receiving.  This will be the first time the VA has been sued.  There are also compelling figures rolling in on the number of post-war disabilities.  Vietnam was the highest in US history at 10% of its Veterans, but in Gulf War I, it was 50%.  Otherwise, the common figure with disabled veterans of foreign wars for the US is 5%.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-veterans22apr22,1,7773593.story

"SAN FRANCISCO -- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs may paint a rosy picture of improving healthcare for veterans, but the agency has systematically denied benefits to sick veterans and delayed claims so long that many of them commit suicide, a lawyer for two advocacy groups argued in federal court Monday." ...

American Truckers - Big Strike
Tuesday, April 22, 2008 12:08 PM
T.O.C.

http://www.theamericandriver.com/files/TruckersAndCitizensUnited.html

On April 28th, thousands of semis and ten times as many marchers will descend upon Washington DC to clog it up and shut it down.  Next, its New York on May 1.  They're founding position is to oppose the causes of high fuel prices, and to hold this administration responsible.

That doesn't sound altogether unreasonable to me.  However, if they oppose Bush on Iraq, then they are officially unpatriotic, in fact, by the letter of the law, they are "terrorists".  I also get the feeling that the summer of 2008 is going to be one for the record books.

When Bush took office, oil was $28 barrel, and now its $117.  We're also seeing rising food prices, if you haven't noticed, but those will continue to rise, in the very least, in response to oil-based inflation, over the coming months.  We're facing unavoidable (potentially massive) recession and double-digit inflation as well.  Unless, of course, the US treasury says it isn't so, in which case there won't be any inflation.

"No, the island is definitely not sinking." (Eric the Viking)

911 Truthers have been contacted regarding this strike.  Here's a happy-go-lucky quote from a 911 blogger page...

"JB of http://www.theamericandriver.com would like to invite ALL 9/11 TRUTHERS and all patriotic citizens to join with the TRUCKERS OF AMERICA STRIKE on Washington D.C. Monday, April 28 and in New York City, Thursday May 1st. The People of the United States will be demanding their country and government back immediately, from the murdering, thieving, lying rich elitist criminals that are in current control.

This is a huge opportunity for outreach and solidarity.

Thousands of Semi's legally screwing up the normal flow of D.C. traffic and tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of marchers demanding our police and military obey the oaths they took to defend the Constitution and help us restore it and physically arrest these criminals. The Longshoreman, the teamsters and a vast amount of European Press will be there. Maybe groups of the American Media that needed the courage to tell the truth will get the guts and follow the Europeans lead! I know it is short notice, but help us out if you can. It may seem an impossible task to restore the Constitution, until you think of what our forefathers had to endure inventing it.

If you live on the east coast please print your flyers by the thousands, put on your smiles and be a part of these incredible historical events. "

Al-Qaida blames Iran on 911 Israeli Theory
Tuesday, April 22, 2008 3:31 PM
T.O.C.

Do you like soap operas?

As the 911 Truth movement rises, and there are 911 truth groups across the Middle East, it gains a head of steam.  It opens doors as it gets bigger.  It also raises the ugly question of "whodunnit?"

Truthers are saying that we don't have an official bad guy for the incident.  This is a good point.  Mohammed Atta and his briefcase, containing one terrorist training manual and a list of 19 names, has said he and they were responsible, but unfortunately, that doesn't mean al qaeda and it doesn't mean Osama Bin Laden.  The director of the FBI has already publicly stated that they have not one shred of evidence linking al qaeda or OBL to 911.

The OBL video from 2001 is also junk.  I call it the "fatty bin laden" video, because that guy just doesn't fit the description, and the technical review of the video fails.  It's just not authentic.  (google "fatty bin laden").

There is evidence of complicity by Israelis, Arabs and the US. There may be the involvement or closeness of: Pakistani ISI, British MI6, US CIA and Israeli Mossad, the respective intelligence agencies.

At this point, between Iran, al qaeda, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the US, I'm not sure if I can smell my own ass.  Al qaeda aligns with the sunnis, which is saying the shiahs are undermining al qaeda's credibility as ruthless killers by blaming 911 on Israelis, and for Iran's wartime allegiance with the US in its Middle East efforts.  These guys are actually saying they're pissed, because someone is blaming someone other than them for 911, and at this point, al qaeda's alignment with the sunnis could mean support from Saudi Arabia.  Will the sunnis take credit for 911 as well?  They are our allies.  Someone should tell the president immediately.

This is reminding me very much of "The Shell Game", a great work of fiction, now on the NY Times bestseller list, which fictionalizes another 911 in a few years, but also, using a lot of facts and virtually all of the actual names from today (except McCain as president McKuen).  I find the book quite clever, and very informative, considering it's put out as a "work of fiction".

You don't want to leave your skis outdoors

You don't want to leave your skis outdoors.

You probably don't want to leave your car out there, either.

I don't guess you'd want to leave your boat outside, or your house for that matter.

You'd probably want to build a big building, for your house, your car, your boat and your skis.

Things get older when you leave them outside, but you don't have to worry about things that are alive being outside.  Things that are alive are photosynthetic.

One thing you could do is ski on animals.  You could use snakes, and you could leave them outdoors. Or, you could use turtles.

As reptiles, either way, they would thaw out in the summertime, for golf, and then be ready for skiing again in the winter.

American Jews Lack Representation

"It is beyond dispute that American Jews overwhelmingly oppose core neoconservative foreign policy principles. Hence, in large numbers, they disapprove of the way the U.S. is handling its "campaign against terrorism" (59-31); overwhelmingly believe the U.S. should have stayed out of Iraq (67-27); believe that things are going "somewhat badly" or "very badly" in Iraq (76-23); and believe that the "surge" has either made things worse or has had no impact (68-30)."

"When asked whether they would support or oppose the United States taking military action against Iran, a large majority -- 57-35% -- say they would oppose such action, even if it were being undertaken "to prevent [Iran] from developing nuclear weapons." While Jews hold views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which are quite pessimistic about the prospects for Israel's ability to achieve a lasting peace with its "Arab neighbors," even there, a plurality (46-43) supports the establishment of a Palestinian state."

And other interesting paragraphs...

Movie Reviews
Saturday, April 26, 2008 3:39 PM
T.O.C.

Yes, in fact I do it all.  I just bought a case of brownies on sale, and so I make many brownies.  But also, I rented a couple of flicks, and I think I got lucky!  The films were Sicko, and Fun With Dick and Jane.

Sicko was moving, there is no question about it, and Michael Moore in my eyes appears poised like Steven Spielberg after producing Schindler's List.  They ought to knight the guy.  Throughout, there is love and compassion, as aroused by a look into the American health care system of today.  It then follows on by looking into other health care systems of our day, such as Canada, England and France.  Moore is wildly entertaining along the way, which keeps much of this film from being nothing but sad.  In spite of its dark topic, I simply had to laugh along the way.  The end, which takes place in Cuba, is what makes it all worthwhile, and so I can't give those details away, but also, I can't just let anyone think its not worthwhile without having watched it.  Every American should watch this one once.  We're living in it, and it gave me a better background on the history of developments within our American health care system.

Violet and I have already talked about living south of the border after the girls come of age, since the trip to Mexico, and Sicko just makes it that much easier to think about.

The other film is Fun With Dick and Jane, and Jim Carey and cast do not disappoint, with brilliant humor throughout that I can only imagine would have anyone laughing.  This new twist to an old 70s comedy manages to be completely different than the original, and one I wouldn't want to miss.  It well places "special thanks" to companies like Enron, MCI and WorldCom in the ending credits, and makes then relevant to the storyline.  Carey-esque humor throughout weaves nicely in with some thematic value, and possibly a series of well empathized life's situations, and I can only guess the whole cast had fun making it.

Muslim Views on America
Saturday, April 26, 2008 11:59 PM
T.O.C.

Perhaps you thought you knew?  I thought maybe I knew a thing or two, but one fellow, John L. Esposito, has put together a book based upon an enormous gallup polling effort to get to the bottom of this, starting with Bush's question, "Why do they hate us?"

From the article at link...
"Tellingly, the presidential rhetoric stands refuted and exposed by the latest survey of 500,000 Muslims in more than 35 Islamic states. Only about 7 per cent of Muslims condone terrorist attacks, but none of these "politically radicalized" gave religious justification for their beliefs, instead voicing fears that the West and the United States are seeking to occupy and dominate the Islamic world." ...

..."Interestingly, among the overwhelming majority of Muslims, their views were driven less by a hatred of the West than a perception that the West hates them. Only 17 per cent said the West "respects" Islam."

"When asked how the West could improve relations with the Muslim world, the most often offered response was: respect Islam, stop treating us like we’re inferior, stop degrading Muslims in your media. " ...

Many other interesting bits, re: "the largest study of its kind ever conducted"...

"U.S. Weighing Readiness for Military Action Against Iran"

By Ann Scott Tyson
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, April 26, 2008

"The nation's top military officer said yesterday that the Pentagon is planning for "potential military courses of action" as one of several options against Iran, criticizing what he called the Tehran government's "increasingly lethal and malign influence" in Iraq."...
Link:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/25/AR2008042501480_pf.html

Of course we're ready to send in our housewives, so don't underestimate America's ability to sweep the evil-doers off the streets of Tehran.  In fact, the DoD puts out this readying for attack upon Iran rhetoric fairly regularly.  The New York Times has just released it's first installment of a two-year investigation into Bush's military expert propaganda machine...

From link below...
"David Barstow of the New York Times has written the first installment in what is already a stunning exposé of the Bush Administration's most powerful propaganda weapon used to sell and manage the war on Iraq: the embedding of military propagandists directly into the TV networks as on-air commentators. We and others have long criticized the widespread TV network practice of hiring former military officials to serve as analysts, but even in our most cynical moments we did not anticipate how bad it was. Barstow has painstakingly documented how these analysts, most of them military industry consultants and lobbyists, were directly chosen, managed, coordinated and given their talking points by the Pentagon's ministers of propaganda."...

..."Barstow spent two years digging, using the Freedom of Information Act and attorneys to force the Bush Administration to release some 8,000 pages of documents now under lock and key at the New York Times. This treasure trove should result in additional stories, giving them a sort of "Pentagon Papers" of Iraq war propaganda."...

Government Employees Cite Political Pressure
Sunday, April 27, 2008 1:51 PM
T.O.C.

Oh, say it aint so!  Is there political pressure that rolls down from the top of turd hill upon the lesser members of that organization?

A large study has been conducted.  The EPA was the target on this one.  It might make one wonder about other government agencies.  Or, perhaps even your own place of work or business.

"Some EPA scientists cite political pressure"
Associated Press
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/5725595.html

"WASHINGTON — Hundreds of Environmental Protection Agency scientists say they have been pressured by superiors to skew their findings, according to a survey released Wednesday by an advocacy group."...

How could the EPA be politicized?  It's run by the top dog, who, like every other top dog, is a presidential appointment. The office of the president appoints over 3000 different leaders in this country.  That's why the director of FEMA was really the president of the Equestrian Society and knew nothing about hurricanes and such, and maybe that's why Bush tried to appoint his personal lawyer to the supreme court (Harriet Miers).  Bush uses the "family and friends" program (nepotism and cronyism).  Maybe there's despotism, too.

"EPA Plan to Study Pesticides' Effect on Kids Spurs Backlash within Agency"
San Francisco Chronicle
http://www.organicconsumers.org/school/poorkids110104.cfm

But we also know that the director of the EPA was the one who said that the air at ground zero after 911 was safe to breath, which is why half of the first responders are dying from respiratory illnesses.

The United States Government is a hierarchical formation.  Every department within it is comprised of employees that have to not only answer to their bosses, but to the nondisclosure and other agreements that they have signed.  You generally can't ask government employees to talk in public about things, because it's a direct conflict of interest, and in many cases they would be put behind bars for doing so.  Their jobs and careers are the least of which is on the line.

Perhaps we need a second opinion?

Japan - 911 in the parliament
Sunday, April 27, 2008 7:21 PM
T.O.C.

Just a hope that this brightens your day...

A few weeks ago, there was a 911 Truth video aired on national television in Japan.  Today, in their parliament, a 20 minute discourse on 911 was also conducted and aired.

911 truth only grows.  It never shrinks.  It's funny about Japan, because their concerns revolve primarily around their efforts in Afghanistan, and how best to help the Afghan people.  They try to bring in water, because many Afghans die of thirst, but Japan has also signed on with UN resolution 16595 (war on terror), as so many countries have.

The US has also been very helpful in Afghanistan, by air-dropping crates of peanut butter and pop tarts, which also helps companies that produce these products to assist the Afghan people more-so in the future.  This is not new.  We became smokers in WW I, a long time ago, when tobacco companies and government got together to put one pack of smokes in every fighting man's daily rations. As a matter of front-line policy, a man could not take a break unless he was smoking, which calms the nerves, once you start, and to shoot straighter afterwards.

Transcript of parliamentary discussion:
http://www.rense.com/general80/testi.htm

..."We need to look at this evidence and ask ourselves what the war on terrorism really is. I can see the ministers nodding in agreement..."

And who would have thunk it?  Is that what makes this a big year?  Will it still be a big year if this doesn't happpen?  Will the US invade Iran

By the way, that last link on 911 Japan, I think a gave a link to the January  exchange.  Here's the April 24 one...
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=32949579
And there was a march 30 one.  Hope that straights it out.  They've been on about it at least 3 times this year.

I hope the Israeli people can do something about their government, but I don't know what Israeli propaganda looks like these days.  They should be able to get a grip on their government at least as well as we do, those little middle eastern sand people. We're large and in charge.  We're the people of the United States!  And we're in total control.

Please ask anyone you know, who happens to live in Israel, to ask their government to stop.  And be glad with your orientation just about wherever you are, if you think your government is crazy.

If you know someone in Israel's government directly, please contact them in support of not doing this build-up and launch with Syria and Lebanon. I will give you home-baked desserts.  Thanks!

March Background on the Rush of the Rushlimburgians

Yes, there appears to be a rich history on Rush Limbaugh raising republican recruits for Hillary's campaign, to destroy Obamas, and the democrats altogether to boot.  He's Russian. Lengthy Paragraph- March background
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/03/mccains_three_general_election.php

From 5th comment:
..."On the day of the Mississippi primary, March 11th, the Boston Globe bannered “Many Voting for Clinton to Boost GOP,” and Scott Helman quoted Republican voters who admitted they were voting for Clinton in primaries because of Rush Limbaugh. The transcript of Limbaugh’s March 19th show was headlined “Rush the Vote: Operation Chaos Meeting and Exceeding Objectives,” and Limbaugh proudly quoted MSNBC’s David Shuster, from the day before, having said, “this month, things changed, and a lot of people are pointing to one man — Rush Limbaugh.” Also on the 19th, blogs.tnr.com headlined “Limbaugh for Hillary” and reported: “it turns out that roughly 119,000 Republicans voted in the Texas primary ... for Hillary. ... Her margin was almost all from voters who cast their ballots for her on instructions from Rush Limbaugh.” A blog at Oprah — who was a passionate supporter of Obama — headlined on March 20th “Rush Limbaugh and His
Operation Chaos.” There were comments such as, “Rush Limbaugh is gloating on the radio these days.” Then, on March 21st, Steve Rosenfeld, at alternet and truthout.org, bannered “Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?” Finally, voter fraud was an authentic factor in U.S. elections, as the Republican Party long had alleged; but the perpetrators were actually Republicans, and not Democrats as Republicans had been alleging. This was voter fraud to distort the other party’s primaries, and not voter fraud in the general election. Rosenfeld wrote: “As the Board of Election in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, where Cleveland is located, launches an investigation into illegal crossover voting in the state’s 2008 presidential primary, a big open question remains unanswered: Will county officials go after the ringleaders of apparently illegal electioneering where thousands of Republican voters swore — under penalty of law — allegiance to the
Democratic Party in order to vote for Hillary Clinton?” The transcript for Rush’s program on March 24th was headlined “If Rush Gets Indicted for Operation Chaos, Indict Obama, Clinton, Too.” Limbaugh said that, “If I am indicted, Obama’s going down with me,” because Obama had been inviting Republicans to vote for him in Democratic primaries. Of course, there’s nothing illegal about a candidate’s trying to expand his voter-base. Limbaugh was comparing apples and axels. Limbaugh urged his listeners in the next big primary state, Pennsylvania, to switch their party-registration, just so that they could legally vote there for Hillary, and bloody Obama up some more.
