Accomodation
Hotels in Ireland are generally reasonable, unless you like to stay
first class, then prices are similar to the rest of the world. However
for the best experience, and the cheapest, stay in one of Irelands hundreds
of B&B's. Typically prices start at about £25 per night,
breakfast included. It is also a fantastic way to meet the locals
and to get the "inside scoop" on the surrounding area.
More often than not you can arrive on the doorstep and get a room.
In the summer months, and especially in the tourist areas (Dublin and Kerry)
you may need to book. But, even at these times, and these locations, the
local tourist office should be able to make a reservation for you (£1
fee).
So as long as you are not too particular about the exact location of
your lodgings, finding accomodation should be a breeze. Nearly every
town in Ireland has at least one B&B. Rooms are always clean, a national
board sees to that, and the hosts always friendly.
In conclusion, hotels are more hassle (and more money) than they are
worth, so stick to the B&B's for a thouroughly enjoyable visit.
