Golfing In Ireland

Munster is located in the South-West of Ireland.  It has the warmest climate and the most spectacular scenery in the country. There are many magnificent golf courses along the coast providing stunning views. West Clare, Kerry, and Cork are particularly good for golf.  Being such a popular destination with tourists during the summer (mostly non golfers), it is wise to book accommodation in advance.

My favorite course in the country. Classic links, designed by Alastair MacKenzie.  Championship course, hosts South of Ireland Amateur.  Very hilly. 18 distinct holes, all challenging.  The "Dell" (No. 6) is one the most unique holes in the world, short par three, completely blind (stone marks line), hitting into a 60 ft. deep bowl. Favorite of the famous, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Jack Nicklaus etc.  Can be quite busy, book in advance.

A decent links course. Much less difficult than its brother across the road. Relatively flat (for a links).  Definitely worth playing if you cannot get onto the Old Course.

Fairly basic course. Three par 4's rest are par 3's.  The 8th is decent, 80 yard par 3 over a ravine. Overall the course is short and uneventful.
