Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Communication procedures related
1. I am confused by the number of ATC stations. Where do I start?
When you depart from Schiphol, always start your flight at Schiphol Delivery
(EHAM_DEL). If there is not DEL present, call
GND, TWR or APP in the given sequence. When you arrive, you will most likely
be handed over by a foreign ACC or by Eurocontrol (Maastricht). The frequencies
of the Amsterdam ACC (callsign: Amsterdam Radar) are
EHAA_W_CTR (125.750) or
EHAA_E_CTR
(124.870).
Two things you have to keep in mind:
Contact Schiphol Departure (EHAM_W_APP
or EHAM_E_APP) when passing
2000ft. Schiphol Tower will
NOT give a handover!
Contact Schiphol Ground (EHAM_W_GND or
EHAM_E_GND) when clear of the landing runway.
Schiphol Tower will NOT give a
handover!
2. When and where do I make initial contact?
Contact Schiphol Delivery (EHAM_DEL) shortly
before or being ready for startup.
Contact Amsterdam Radar (EHAA_W_CTR or
EHAA_E_CTR) when about to enter the Amsterdam
FIR at or below FL245.
Higher FL's are handled by Maastricht Control
(EUR_VM_CTR), usually 135.450.
