Hello and welcome to another season of rugby at Brighton u/15
Thanks to Mark Whitlock for carrying on training through the close season he had a great turn out throughout the summer. Also a big thank-you Charlie and James for their help. The lads enjoyed their coaching tips and it was good to see u/16s joining in the training. It helps the lads to know that to make a go of it this year they have to watch and learn from this age group. Sunday training is back and the numbers are good – there is still a lot to do but as a group we are getting stronger.
Sunday 12/09/04 We had a training game against Haywards Heath. The game consisted of 4 quarters of 15 minutes each way
As the game started the lads looked like they were going to play well, but in the first 15 minutes Haywards Heath scored a try to make it 5-0. Some of our play was good. In the second 15 minutes the coach made some changes to the side, which seemed to unsettle some of the lads, as they tried to change their style of play, Heath just played on our mistakes and took a 17-0 lead. The third 15 minutes was better and the lads put in lots of hard work which was beginning to show dividends, the tackling was good; the scrum was good; rucking wasn’t bad but we need to work harder to get in support of the ball carrier. We also lost the ball in the tackle, we need to work on those two points.
Apart from that the game was good but Heath managed another try in this quarter to make the score 22-0. All was not lost though and the summer training reaped its rewards in the fourth quarter as Brighton got stronger and scored a try from Tom C. If anybody deserves that try it was Tom as he has put so much effort in to his game. SO WE WON THE FOURTH QTR WELL DONE LADS THANKS TO STEVE FOR HIS HELP IN PRE MATCH WARM UP.
