BRIGHTON UNDER 11'S,AT EAST SUSSEX FESTIVAL
Sunday 19th March
Brighton were drawn in the same group as Lewes and Heathfield in East Sussex festival and had to win one of the 2 games in the pool matches.
1st game; Brighton 15 vs. 0 Heathfield
Because we were playing on very narrow pitches this was always going to be forwards orientated game. The Brighton forwards played out of their skins to release the backs, and all the hard work the boys have put in so far this season came together like clockwork.
2nd game; Brighton 5 vs 0 Lewes,
Lewes were the Sussex champions last season and this was always going to be a tight game as the final result shows. This victory guaranteed us a place in the semi finals.
Semi Final; Brighton 20 vs. 0 East Grinstead
The boys looked hungry for success, played some good running rugby and with dominance at the scrum the boys had a good victory
In the other semi final Lewes had just beaten Crowborough !
Final; Brighton 15 vs 5 Lewes
The boys wanted this victory, it was their time and they played outstanding rugby against a very good and well drilled side.
A special thanks must go to East Grinstead for organising the festival and all the hard work that goes with it.
Also thank you to the Sussex society referees, who refereed the semis and finals.
Brighton will meet Pulborough the West Sussex winners, at Eastbourne on 9th April 2006 in the Sussex final
