Hello, boys and girls! Here are a few pics from our trip to Turkey in May 2006. We had such a nice time and learned so much about Turkey it was great! I hope to one day be able to go back again. Along our travels there we happened to stop off at a restaurant named. . . "Marla Restaurant." LOL Now, I had to take a pic of that one! And I also found that they sold "Marla Turkish Delight!" Ha ha ha! So I had to buy some, naturally! The second pic is of me holding up two Marla Turkish Delight boxes.

Here's a pic of Brian and me at the Uranos night club in Cappadocia. They served all kinds of drinks including their famous "raki," also known as "lion's milk" and had folk dancing and belly dancing, hmmmm. . . shake it baby. . . lol

This amphitheater is called Aspendos and is still in use today for live concerts.

Here's a shot at Lone Pine in Galipolli. I suppose you Aussies and NZers would be more familiar with this place. Not far from this memorial can be found some original war trenches, and the lone pine tree standing today is grown from a seed from the original lone pine that stood there during the Battle at Galipolli. The story goes that a soldier (can't remember if he was an Aussie or an NZer) during that battle saved a cone from the tree and grew a tree from it in his own yard after the war, which eventually ended up imported back to Turkey on Lone Pine where the original one was destroyed during the battle.

This is at the KuroMar Hotel in Kusadasi. The Aegean Sea can be seen right off the balcony.

The Trojan horse used in the movie "Troy" starring Brad Pitt is displayed in Cannakale right by the ferry which crosses from the Asian side to the European side of Turkey. The Trojan horse is on the Asian side. Aaron, my youngest son, is with me in this shot. :o)
