FOUR FOR MASON AS MARLOW CRUSH BICESTER
FTL FUTBOL HELLENIC
PREMIER DIVISION
Marlow United 6 Bicester Town 0
Marlow cruised to their biggest win of the season against fellow relegation candidates Bicester Town on the back of a four goal blast from man of the match Jon Mason with debutant Andrew Nicol and Ollie Flint adding one apiece.
At a wet and windy Wilks Park it was the home team who mastered the conditions better than their opponents.
Playing into a gale force wind the home team took the lead on 10 minutes with Mason slotting home Nicol’s cross from the right.
The defence dealt capably with Bicester’s long ball tactics and despite the away team having most of the play it was Marlow who should have increased their lead with Nicol, Mason and Flint all having chances to increase the lead.
Bicester threatened briefly with Hunt firing over two free kicks although they rarely threatened in open play.
Marlow soon doubled their lead in the second half with Ollie Flint converting another Nicol cross on 50 minutes.
The home team continually caught the Bicester defence on the counter attack and Mason scored his second and United’s third on 57 minutes with Ollie Flint providing the pass.
Debutant Andrew Nicol, who had an excellent first game, scored the fourth on 62 minutes, running through a static defence and slotting the ball past McNamara.
Substitute Adam Dickens provided the pass for Mason to complete his hat trick on 71 minutes as the game turned into a rout and despite Bicester enjoying a period of pressure Mason completed the scoring on 90 minutes with his fourth and Marlow’s sixth of the match with Nicol again providing the cross.
Manager Kevin Carvell could not hide his delight at the result praising all his players for the emphatic win “It’s been a long time coming but that result was worth the wait, every player played his part in a superb display in atrocious conditions.
I think all the lads are looking forward to Hungerford on Saturday and who knows, if we can repeat that performance we could spring a surprise”
