MARLOW DISAPPOINTED WITH DRAW
FTL FUTBOL HELLENIC
PREMIER DIVISION
Marlow United 1 Carterton 1
Marlow fought back from a one goal half time deficit to deservedly share the spoils against fellow strugglers Carterton.
Playing on a Monday evening at the request of the visitors United never got into their stride until the second half with Carterton looking the better side in the first 45 minutes.
The home team started brightly enough gaining two early corners with Pedley trying his luck on two minutes.
Carterton replied with a long range shot which required two attempts by Walden to save.
With Adam Dickens involved in most of the play Marlow looked the busier side but in truth they never tested keeper Domm and it was the away side who began to assume control of the game.
They opened the scoring on 26 minutes when a Pedley foul on the edge of the area allowed Threlfall the opportunity to fire the ball around the wall and through the despairing dive of Walden in the home goal.
United continually gave the ball away and it was Carterton who were first to the ball as they dictated the play.
Coull saw his header from Benyon’s free kick skim the crossbar on 39 minutes as Marlow briefly threatened and the half ended with Dickens being booked for arguing with the referee as frustration began to creep into their game.

Manager Carvell introduced forward Lewis Brown at the start of the second half and it was the substitute who sparked the home team into life with his energy and constant foraging.
A Dickens free kick was met by the unmarked Benyon who saw his header clip the top of the bar when really he should have found the net.
Marlow were now the dominant team, Carterton having to rely on quick breaks to threaten the goal.
Brown saw his low shot turned round the post by Domm on 64 minutes before firing wide 5 minutes later after combining with Britnell.
Marlow finally equalised on 73 minutes when following a prolonged period of pressure the ball found Coull just inside the penalty area.
As the player turned to shoot he was bought down and the referee awarded the spot kick.
Captain Doswell stepped forward and duly converted the penalty to score his third goal in three games.
Marlow replaced a tiring Nicol with Wiltshire and Pedley with Ollie Flint as the home team went all out for the three points.
That they were unable to score the decisive goal owed much to a spirited response from the visitors who twice caught out the Marlow defence with incisive counter attacks only to miss the target.
Marlow kept up the pressure but to no avail and at the final whistle the disappointed looks of the home team told the story of the match as one point was not really ideal for the relegation threatened team.
