A MAN THAT NEVER COULD BEEN...
What exactly trifles a man's wisdom?
What blunt fury could excite a man's wiles...
What nomadic heart best describes a man's constitution...
What blatant impetus could a man suffers in perpetuity...

TXT U, TXT ME HA? :-)
Dandal, Erika ABSTRACT This paper is a qualitative study why people text using the cost-benefit analysis of Social Exchange Theory and how such practices in text messaging reflect the utilitarianism principle of John Stuart Mill. Specifically, this paper focuses on the 2-day SMS description and assessment of the transaction of Communication Research 115 (CR 115) students through their diary entries from September 4-5, 2002. This paper found that people text or continue their respective transactions due to the benefits (rewards) gained and terminate their respective transactions because of the costs that serve as barriers in the communication process. The outcome of their assessment can be gauged through the satisfaction people gained in the transaction as well as the efforts texters make to maintain relational stability despite high costs in the communication transaction. Texters are also classified as hedonists and moralists based from their texting behavior. These classifications are basic tenets of the Utilitarian principle. Analyzing the kind of behavior patterns of texters will serve as an aid in determining the continuity of their respective transactions via cellphone. Want a copy of this? CONTACT AUTHORS |
