Introduction

In this book I will try to break down and explain the hidden meaning, feeling and emotions behind colors and why people may choose to wear the colors they do.

The color a person chooses to wear says much about their personality. For colors, as with flowers, have hidden symbolism. This symbolism can be expressed in terms of mood or character of the wearer, the more clothing in that shade the more intense the meaning. For example, have you ever wondered why a room painted yellow seems happy and bright? Whereas a blue room is cool and thought-clarifying The reason behind it is perception of the color, and each color perception will be explained in more detail in this book..


Red: Vitality, Courage and Self Confidence

Use when you need to meet a demanding day, or when you feel drained of energy. The color red provides the power from earth and gives energy on all levels. It connects us to our physical body. Everything that is to be commenced needs the life vitality of red.

Personality Traits: Courageous, confident, humanistic, strong-willed, spontaneous, honest, and extroverted.

Different shades of - Oxblood, burgundy, crimson, magenta, scarlet and wine


Orange: Happiness, Confidence, Resourcefulness

Brings joy to our day and strengthens our appetite for life! Orange is the best emotional stimulant. It connects us to our senses and helps to remove inhibitions and makes us independent and social.

Personality Traits: Enthusiastic, happy, sociable, energetic, sporty, self-assured, and constructive.

Different shades of orange - Ochre, salmon, pumpkin, peach, apricot, and vermilion.


Yellow: Wisdom, Clarity, Self-Esteem

Gives us clarity of thought, increases awareness, and stimulates interest and curiosity. Yellow energy is related to the ability to perceive and understand. Yellow connects us to our mental self.

Personality Traits: Good-humored, optimistic, confident, practical, and intellectual.

Different shades of yellow - Mustard, saffron, lemon and canary,


Green: Balance, Love, Self Control

Helps relax muscles, nerves, and thoughts. Cleanses and balances our energy, to give a feeling of renewal, peace and harmony. Green connects us to unconditional love and is used for balancing our whole being.

Personality Traits: Understanding, self-controlled, adaptable, sympathetic, compassionate, generous, humble, nature loving, and romantic.

Different shades of green - Olive, sage, primrose, lime, forest, teal, chartreuse and emerald.


Blue: Knowledge, Health, Decisiveness

This is a mentally-relaxing color. Blue has a pacifying effect on the nervous system and brings great relaxation. Ideal for sleep. Connects us to holistic thought, and gives us wisdom and clarity enhancing communication and speech.

Personality Traits: Loyal, tactful, affectionate, inspiring, inventive, caring, and cautious.

Different shades of blue - Cornflower, navy, cyan, indigo, azure, cobalt, and cerulean


Indigo: Intuition, Mysticism, Understanding

The indigo energy connects us to our unconscious self, and gives us the experience of being part of the whole universe. Strengthens intuition, imagination, psychic powers, and increases dream activity.

Personality Traits: Intuitive, fearless, practical, idealistic, wise, and a truth seeker


Purple/Violet: Beauty, Creativity, Inspiration

Purifies our thoughts and feelings giving us inspiration in all undertakings. Violet connects us to our spiritual self bringing guidance, wisdom and inner strength. Enhances artistic talent and creativity.

Personality Traits: Inspirational leaders, kindly and just, humanitarians, self-sacrificing, visionary, creative, and strong mentally.

Different shades of purple - Plum, lavender, violet, fuchsia, orchid, and lilac


White: Peace, Purity, Creativity It is strengthening, very cleansing and purifying to the entire energy system of the individual. It can awaken great creativity. When in doubt as to what color to use, you can seldom go wrong with white.

Similar shades - ivory, and alabaster


Black: Strength, Secrecy

It is a color that is shrouded in confusion. Black is a strengthening color, and it can be used to ground and calm extremely sensitive individuals. It should be used sparingly, as too much black can cause depression or aggravate an emotional or mental condition.

Similar shades - Ebony, sable, midnight, and raven


In conclusion each person must decide on their own which colors are appropriate for them, however they should also keep the Sumptuary Laws about clothing and dyes in mind when making that selection.
