I met you as a wild animal;
I came to you more wolf than girl -
wary of strangers, cautious from a young age.
My trust was a treasure too precious to give,
As it never seemed to return.
I was always prepared to break the link
That stretched, so tenuously, between us.
Perpetually ready to turn tail;
to flee.
But there was never reason to do so,
For it was you who first held out to me
The precious jewel of trust.
With time, the bond between us strengthened;
You tamed me, taught me and befriended me
Without restricting my wild nature.
In turn,
I found that you were a quiet, cunning hunter.
The seeker has lost her purpose;
The one she seeks has been found -
But her questions remain unanswered,
And she finds that she is bound.
The huntress became the hunted.
Now the hunted one is caught.
But the wolf and I have no wish to be 'set free'.
We are free.
Why should we be separated from the one we love?
