Connect
your Stereo to your PC and make your Tapes/Records/Mixes
into MP3s If
you want to transfer some Tapes or Records to
the PC, or want to record your work done on your
Hi Fi/Decks in digital format, so that you can
edit it or save it as an MP3, you need to connect
your Hi Fi to your PC. This method is much better
than holding a Microphone up to your Hi Fi speakers
as it ensures top quality audio.
- First
you will need to buy a cable with 3.5mm plugs
at both ends. These plugs are the same as the
ones used for headphones and speakers. If your
Hi fi is one of them midi systems then connect
one end to the headphone socket. If yours is
a Separate then you will need to get a cable
with a headphone socket at one end and two RCA
plugs at the other. These are red and white
plugs which are used to connect separates to
the amplifier. If your Hi-Fi is too far away
then you just need a headphone extension lead.
Or then again bring the Hi-Fi closer to the
PC but watch where you put your Speakers! Them
Hi-Fi speakers aint always magentically shielded
so put them near your monitor and you will fuck
up your picture.
- Now
that you have hooked up your Hi Fi play a tape/record
and listen carefully to check that the sound
is coming through your PC speakers. If not,
double click the Yellow Speaker shown near the
clock usually on the bottom right of the screen.
If not shown then Click Start, go to Programs,
Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control.
The two examples shown below are of the Windows
Volume control. People's sound cards vary so
some options may be called someting else or
on the other hand not even be there. We are
going to adjust the Line in Slider to maximum
volume. If this doesn't help check connections
or make sure that the volume is turned up on
the stereo but not too much.
