Upon earning a BA degree from San Diego State University in journalism, with an emphasis in radio/television news, Marsi got her feet wet in the broadcast industry as a TV reporter and host for KDCI/Local Headline News in Carlsbad, CA.
From there, Marsi went on to become an overnight radio news anchor/reporter and producer on 760 KFMB by working for AirWatch Communications, Inc. (now AirWatch America/ClearChannel Traffic).
After only a few short months on the San Diego radio airwaves, Marsi landed a full-time television job at KLBC-TV 2-- the UPN affiliate in Laughlin, Nevada. Covering news for the tri-state area (Laughlin, NV, Bullhead City, AZ, and Needles, CA) proved to be a challenge for Marsi, as she not only acted as the station's news co-anchor, but also the writer, producer, photographer, and fill-in news director.
Within a year, Marsi became the weekend anchor/producer and weekday reporter at KJCT-News 8-- the ABC affiliate in Grand Junction, Colorado. It was here that Marsi was best known as the station's "In Business" reporter-- a weekly news segment featuring Western Colorado businesses.
After a couple years, Marsi moved back to California, as a radio news anchor/TV reporter for KMPH-- the FOX affiliate in Fresno. Soon after, she was back in her hometown of San Diego working for AirWatch America (once again-- this time as a traffic reporter on various radio stations, including KOGO, KSDO, KPOP, and B 94.9 FM). Marsi was selected as a finalist for the 2001 AIR (Achievement in Radio) Awards in the category of "Best Traffic Reporter" for the San Diego region.
Marsi was additionally a television host for ShopAround San Diego-- a show featuring regional businesses-- seen on cable stations, as well as a host for KPBS-TV's Live! campaign fundraisers.
