My 1st. Speculative Vision:
1- An ancient extraterrestrial civilization had lived on Mars, or on a nearby planet in the solar system;
2- Their technology was at least at the same level as the Mayan or Egyptian ones, meaning that they were capable of accurate astronomical predictions;
3- Using their observations and predictions, they had discovered and calculated one planetary catastrophe, on their once near future. They knew that their civilization was condemned to a great disaster, maybe to die, because they felt themselves unable to stop it;
4- Because intelligent civilizations are capable of mathematical and theological knowledge, they had used this type of communication to be sure that their warning message was surely going to be understood on future time by other intelligent species;
5- Courageous, and because they had believed in God, they had planned to built a huge future proof monumental complex of tri-dimensional formations, visible from space, which purpose was to warn future civilizations about the cosmic threat, or even to ask for help from God or from space;
6- After calculating the incoming catastrophe, they had also decided to build several underground bunkers, in order to try to survive to the incoming planetary and climate devastation;

7- Maybe they had not successfully accomplished their task, and perished, or maybe they are still there, or maybe they are here on Earth!;
8- For this reason, it is an urgent task for us, to find and study the astronomical, mathematical and theological messages of the Cydonia complex, in order to be able to avoid any possible future threat to human kind.
My 2nd. Speculative Vision:
There was a time, something like 5000-15000 years ago, when several advanced civilizations existed simultaneously in different areas of the Earth. Just to list a few ones: Egyptian, Mayan, Sumerian, Azteca, Inca, Babylonian, Phoenician, etc.
It is very difficult to explain how did those very ancient people construct such a phenomenal set of huge monuments, astronomical knowledge, mathematics, philosophy, cosmology, engineering, transcontinental navigation, etc.
I believe that the Gods and Goddesses of those polytheistic religions were related to the modern scientific concept of multi-dimentional parallel universes (e.g. multiverses).
For example, the Sumerian Goddess Nammu, Goddess of the Primeval Sea, "the mother who gave birth to heaven and earth."
Here, The Primeval Sea can be associated with the energy field that may exist beyond the observable universe. The quantum fluctuations of this energy field may create the Level 1 multiverses, like the one where we are living now.
Otherwise, the Level 4 multiverse, that includes all the mathematical structures, as the Platonic reality , can only be understood by some kind of intelligent conscience. In our "real" world, the perception of this Platonic multiverse could be simply represented by the geometric figure of a triangle for example.
As an archeologist one can find accidentally one line or even some randomly oriented straight lines, but if someone find triangle(s), square(s), parallel line(s), almost for sure this is a sign of an abstract intelligence. How did all those civilizations suddenly appear and disappear? It is necessary to find out.
Possibly one of the messages from Mars says that our brain, our mind, our conscience, our feelings, our soul, all these things constitutes a kind of BRIDGE or GATEWAY placed between our "real" world and the parallel universes!
That's the point. Why government agencies and the general public should care about parallel universes? They only think in terms of the "real" world, unless they discover that such other dimensions and multiverses could really impact our "real" world!
One of the astonishing consequences of the human-brain-gateway-to-multiverse hypothesis is: Once we get the capacity to built an artificial conscient-machine, we will have also the capacity to built a physical transport gateway to access other universes, or to access other places in our own local universe!
Maybe the answer is blowing in the dust storms of MARS! (with Bob Dylan permission...)
My 3rd. Speculative Vision:
Even considering that maybe the Sun never has been hotter in the past, although it is impossible to absolutely proof this, I've found myself impressed by the following remote vision:
1- There was a time when both Mars and his hypothetic neighbor were placed inside the named HZ "habitable zone" around the Sun, meaning that both planets, or at least one of them, had oceans covering their surfaces;
2- These huge oceans had important influence in their
mutual dynamic orbital equilibrium, similar to what occurs today with Earth and Moon, as the tides on Earth cause our Moon to spiral outward;
3- Another maybe very small but important factor related to the orbital equilibrium of both planets around the Sun was the fact that the Sun, having cumulatively spent less energy than today, was at that time a more massive or more active star;
4- Then, after some time, due to unknown causes, both planets had reached the inner or outer boundary limit of the HZ;
5- This catastrophic situation, had frozen or wiped out both planet's oceans, making their orbits unstable, forcing their huge bodies to find a new minimum energy state of equilibrium;
6- This new state of equilibrium was the final catastrophe, the collision of the planets, the destruction of the Mar's colleague, the end of their civilization;
7- In fact, we have an actual example! Phobos is spiraling in towards Mars, and at its current rate (1.8 m/century), it will hit the planet in about 50 million years!

8- And maybe this is the reason why the actual frozen water of Mars is placed under the ground: the ancient Mar's ocean had been covered by the coalesced debris resulted from the explosion of the Mar's colleague! As the impact occurred over the equator of Mars (you can see the scar there), most of the reminiscent water is placed in the poles;
9- And Phobos maybe is the last wave of that debris that is going to it's final fate;
10- I also believe that possibly that huge impact crater on Phobos (The Stickney Crater) was created by debris from that ancient explosion.
