Presentation: "CANDOR BASE" T. McCann, Geologist Mars UnEarthed |
CANDOR
BASE: |
In the North East quadrant of the overall image I found numerous parallel linear features traversing the topography. After examining the lines in this one area and comparing them with one another I realized these lines were all of a consistent width apart and begin to guess they might be some sort of vehicle tracks -- perhaps the same vehicle responsible for the pit excavations. These parallel tracks are not in any way a natural feature for the following reasons. 1) They cannot be fault zones as a result of the extreme parallel nature 2) there is no brecciation or random fracturization of the intermittent area and fault; fracture zones do not maintain such coherency 3) Fault zones do not divert around surface features and obstructions as these tracks do and these same surface features can be demonstrated to be clearly artificial in natural and are also described below.
The vehicle appears to be photographed from the side and above allowing the two side tires to be visible. The tire on the right hand edge appears to be turned to the north slightly, thereby allowing the vehicle to circumnavigate the obstruction north of it. I believe this vehicle is very similar to our "Tundra Buggies"(seen below) which are used to navigate the hostile polar regions .
Tundra BuggyThe image of the "ATV/Buggy" in this area is somewhat pixelated due to the imaging distance removing finer detail which would further clarify it as a vehicle. Despite the loss of detail with pixelation, the rounded shape of tires is evident as is shadowing beneath the buggy and the tires. Also on the buggy roof are two evident whitish bumps. The angled "front" or east end of the buggy as well as the front right side (facing the camera) have albedo changes and appearance of being a window in both cases. There also appears to be a dark shaded linear feature immediately in front of the buggy and paralleling its front, which could conceivably be the blade of a plow.Other Image FeaturesSmoke Stack:
Located along the upper left margin of the image Area Of Concern is a squat, round structure. The sides of this circular structure appear to have repeating structural detail. Downslope to the east of this cylindrical shape, exposed protrueding from the slope itself, there is a semicirculat arc that seems to be circling the stack itself as a part of its subsurface foundation. Coming from the center of this structure is smoke which appears to spiral up vertically and then begin to equalize and spread out, becoming semitransparent. This smoke travels to the north allowing topographic detail beneath it to still be visible, albeit obscured partially. The smoke itself also casts a shadow with shadow margins also mimicking the smoke cloud itself, as would be expected.

Tech Structure:
In the approximate center of the image Area Of Concern there is a feature labeled "Tech Structure' or Technical Structure. This Tech Structure feature is somewhat elongate and its northeastern end has a whiter albedo clearly delineating two parallel features which appear to be metallic rails catching the sunlight. The southwest end of the tech structure appears to be at a higher elevation and giving off thin, wispy semitransparent smoke which trails off in a west northwest direction. This "Tech Structure" has evident tracks on both its eastern and western sides, showing the structure itself has had to be circumnavigated by the vehicle.
Valley Floor:
Tunnel: The "Tunnel" is a large cylindrical shape originating from the dark mound with the aperture of the "cave" entrance on its eastern margin and projects to the central portions of the valley floor. The arched opening of this tunnel is notched back along the tunnel top surface by a distance of approximately 150 meters. This notch allows the internal floor texture of the tunnel entrance to be visible, yet clearly more shadowed. This striking tunnel feature further serves to support the belief that the mound and the "cave" aperture are artificial creations.
Vehicles: There are two distinctive objects situated at the entrance to the tunnel which I have designated "Vehicles". These vehicle objects appear to have circular wheels in some area and have clearly evident under shadowing. Darker portions 2/3 of the way up the apparent height of both of these objects may represent portals or windows.
The "Y": The Tunnel aperture and both of the two "Vehicles" appear to to situated around a markation on the valley floor which is an apparent equiangular "Y", appears to be raised and is of a lighter albedo shading than the immediately surrounding dark, circular area. The equiangular nature of this "Y" feature, while not impossible in nature, would seem to be artificial. I find myself wondering of the vehicles and tunnel itself do not serve as some sort of service for this feature.
Machinery: Due north of the "Y" and "Vehicles" there is a feature at the base of the ridge that appears to be rounded and cylindrical with a limb extending upward towards the top of the ridge. This limb is clearly separate from the topography as shown by its shadow falling across the ridge slope to the west. The extension of this limb to the top of ridge appears to trend directly toward a cluster of rectilinear features beyond the crest of the ridge itself.
Structure: Numerous rectilinear features along the slope of the ridge demonstrating a high degree of structural coherency and localization.
"Still": South of the "Tech Structure" in the image Area Of Concern is a feature labeled "Still". This appears to be some sort of spherical tank with support legs and an exhaust aperture atop it giving with apparent steam puffs.. A bulbous tubing appears to be coming out of this tank's western edge. The tubing leaves the tank and then turns to the north, disappearing beneath the surface for a brief distance and then resurfaces at what appears to be a "T" juncture.

Basic "Bunker" Shape, 3D Modeled |
Occupying a large portion of the southwest quadrant of Area Of Concern is a feature I refer to as the "Bunker". The face of this Bunker is a curved vertical face, facing out in a southeasterly direction. The overall Bunker facie feature is a segment of an arc of a virtually perfect circle, by the visual evidence. This curved vertical face is recognized by numerous arced linear paralleling lines of shelves, indentations and edges. The top central edge of this appears to have squared protrusion which rises above the rest of the Bunker upper level of the bunkers face. The lower central portion of the bunker is marked by a uniform, symmetrical, 5 sided feature (pentagon) which appears to have a metallic albedo and striped metallic refractive banding. The pentagon plate is situated in the center of the Bunker face and oriented symmetrically to the vertical, with the central point downward. There appears to be period dark bordering along this pentagonal margins. The artificial nature of the pentagon is clearly evident by its abrupt albedo change and overwhelmingly artificial, structured orientation with the pentagon point directed downward and the pentagon horizontal face paralleling the bunker's horizontal line and line of the face levels, a symmetrical layout to the horizon.... as some sort of "shield" emblem which we have seen often employed in the marketing of many products.
There are smoke cloud plumes originating from the bunker upper level and then the smoke is dispersed by local winds in two separated directions, obscuring from view some portions of the Bunker facie. This smoke outline can be clearly seen BELOW in "Bunker Smoke Plumes" mous-over image. The smoke originates from 3 exhaust stacks which are able to be seen even amidst the smoke by their dark shadow. The nature of these objects as exhausts is affirmed by the exhaust cloud plumes centering about these dark features before the smoke is disseminated by local wind direction. The paired exhausts on the more southerly portion of the upper level discharge their smoke off a southern direction due to the prevailing winds. The smoke from these dual exhausts casts a shadow across the southern portion of the Bunker face give it an appearance of a mottled, rough "stucco" texturing. The location of these exhaust stacks on the upper bunker level is recreated in the 3D model.
The smoke plumes and one of the 3 clearly evident stacks are more clearly outlined in this image. These smoke plumes are striking, undeniable evidence affirmed by numerous corroborating details that this region of Mars, Candor, has current, immediate activity..and there is in fact a presence there... occupying Mars at this time and engaged in activities!
Back BUNKER Area:
The back portion of the Bunker is highlighted by linear features which I believe to be a supporting beam and trough infrastructure. These beams delineate a roofed area which has a slightly discolored whitish tint from that of the surrounding topography not enclosed by this roof. These beams and associated roof lines delineate a main building area with a smaller structure coming off it to the north. This smaller attached structure has only a singular diagonal beam line across its roof. Vehicle "tracks" can be seen ending abruptly at the margin of this smaller roofed area, implying entry within this roofed structure, and I believe it may indeed serve as a housing for the "ATV/buggy" itself.
Bunker Back Detail |

The structure of the back Bunker area and the peaks and troughs of an evident roof line system servers as secondary image detail to affirm the conclusiong that the bunker facie represents an artificial structure. Additionally the continuance of the parallel "tracks' right up to the margin of this back bunker structure logically affirms the interpretaion of these liner features as a roofing structure and simultaneously affirms the tracks themselves and that these tracks are very likley resulting from a vehicle.
In the southwest corner of the image Area Of Concern, there is a feature labeled "Entrance in Bunker Wall". This feature appears to be a darkened portal or access in the shadowed southern face of the bunker.
Squared "Pad" w/ Detailing":
North of the Bunker in the Area Of Concern is a feature which appears to be a squared pad with a surround lip on its outer margins. The inside of this feature has numerous bumps whose detail is likely lost in pixelization. This feature, as the others is characteristics which define it as highly artificial. The base topography throughout this image appears to have a consistent white albedo. The evident tracks across this topography may suggest the area could be covered with a precipitation of snow.Clearly evident in the areas immediately north and south of the bunker, and indeed in other areas throughout the image, are dark patches that seem to be occupied by some sort of foliage. I personally believe this foliage to similar to evergreens in nature - similar to pine trees. Those areas adjacent to the bunker even show an internal shadowing from this foliage itself. Not surprisingly a recent news item in January of 2001 involved discussions of some group that met in Chicago to discuss, among other things the potential for "terraforming" of Mars, and how evergreen trees might be among the first things able to grow.
This smoke originating from the bunker itself, along with the smoke coming forth from the enormous, squat circular smoke stack to the north as well as the crisscrossing parallel vehicle tracks each individually show, beyond any reasonable doubt, that Mars is currently inhabited. Cumulatively these evidences are making the current presence and activity on Mars impossible to ignore. The revelations of the "Candor Base" features further corroborates my previous release of "The Tower", a 6.3 kilometer tall, needle straight monolith giving off steam condensation clouds --- an enormous smoke stack that towers over the Empire State Building some 16 times.
