More of
Sapelo Island, Georgia

Hi, follow me, I'll show you some of this beautiful island

We walked from the docks to
Hog Hammock Community.
That is the only town that is on
the island.  There are only 70
residents on the Island now.

We rented bicycles from the one
place on the island that rents rooms
and bicycles owned by Ceaser and
Nancy Banks.  It is a nice little place.
We rode bikes all over the island
all day.  You can hardly see me in
this picture, but I am there with my
rented bicyle under that huge tree.

I decided to take this cat walk out through the marsh to the water.
It was quite a walk on those little
planks.  These pictures do not show
how pretty or interesting the marsh
is.  It is full of beautiful birds.

See how far out I walked on those
flimsy little boards?  That dot out
there is me!  Joe didn't care to join
me for this little walk!

There have been several presidents
and many interesting people that
have visited this island.  This is
the airport that they flew into.
Joe wanted this picture.  He said he
could almost see the excitement
and commotion that must have
gone on when they arrived.
President and Mrs. Calvin Coolidge
visited during Christmas of 1928.
President and Mrs. Herbert Hoover
visited in 1932.
Charles Lindbergh landed his plane
here February 1929.
President Jimmy Carter, and his
family visited in 1979.
