II    WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE

 

 

JOEL 2:1-2

BLOW THE TRUMPET IN ZION, SOUND THE ALARM ON MY HOLY HILL. LET ALL WHO LIVE IN THE LAND TREMBLE, FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD IS COMING. IT IS CLOSE AT HAND- A DAY OF DARKNESS AND GLOOM, A DAY OF CLOUDS AND BLACKNESS. LIKE A DAWN SPREADING ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS A LARGE AND MIGHTY ARMY COMES, SUCH AS NEVER WAS OF OLD NOR EVER WILL BE IN AGES TO COME.


Humm!!
Nobody has seen what an army of nuclear warheads would do to the earth but a good description would be a day of fire then darkness and gloom, of clouds and blackness as in the above passages. Not convinced? Then read on!


JOEL 2:3-5

BEFORE THEM FIRE DEVOURS, BEHIND THEM A FLAME BLAZES. BEFORE THEM THE LAND IS LIKE THE GARDEN OF EDEN, BEHIND THEM, A DESERT WASTE-NOTHING ESCAPES THEM. THEY HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF HORSES; THEY GALLOP ALONG LIKE CAVALRY. WITH A NOISE LIKE THAT OF CHARIOTS THEY LEAP OVER MOUNTAIN TOPS, LIKE A CRACKLING FIRE CONSUMING STUBBLE, LIKE A MIGHTY ARMY DRAWN UP FOR BATTLE

Humm!!
Question: What has a flame behind it, leaps over mountains and rearranges the scenery?

 

 

Revelation
9:13-20

Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” So the four angels were released, who had been held ready for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, to kill a third of humankind. The number of the troops of cavalry was two hundred million; I heard their number. And this was how I saw the horses in my vision: the riders wore breastplates the color of fire and of sapphire and of sulfur; the heads of the horses were like lions’ heads, and fire and smoke and sulfur came out of their mouths. By these three plagues a third of humankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths. For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they inflict harm. The rest of humankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands or give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk. After 5 months the next four are released and one third of mankind dies. Notice again this description of a multi warhead Intercontinental Ballastic Missile i.e."their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they inflict harm. " Even after man's sin has been allowed to follow it's destructive path mankind still doesn't turn away from their evil and worship God.



JOEL 2:6-10

AT THE SIGHT OF THEM NATIONS ARE IN ANGUISH, EVERY FACE TURNS PALE. THEY CHARGE LIKE WARRIORS, THEY SCALE WALLS LIKE SOLDIERS. THEY ALL MARCH IN LINE, NOT SWERVING FROM THEIR COURSE. THEY DO NOT JOSTLE EACH OTHER; EACH MARCHES STRAIGHT AHEAD. THEY PLUNGE THROUGH DEFENCES WITHOUT BREAKING RANKS. THEY RUSH UPON THE CITY; THEY RUN ALONG THE WALL. THEY CLIMB INTO HOUSES; LIKE THIEVES THEY ENTER THROUGH WINDOWS. BEFORE THEM THE EARTH SHAKES, THE SKY TREMBLES, THE SUN AND MOON ARE DARKENED AND THE STARS NO LONGER SHINE.

Humm!!
Smoke, dust and ash thrown up into the atmosphere as a result of a nuclear war would indeed make the light shining from the sun, the moon and the stars very dim on earth. Also if we look at smart bombs of today they are quite capable of entering through windows like thieves and making the earth shake and the sky tremble as the Gulf War has clearly shown us.


ISAIAH 13:5-6

THEY CAME FROM FARAWAY LANDS, FROM THE ENDS OF THE HEAVENS -THE LORD AND THE WEAPONS OF HIS WRATH-TO DESTROY THE WHOLE COUNTRY. WAIL FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD IS NEAR, IT WILL COME LIKE DESTRUCTION FROM THE ALMIGHTY.


Humm!!
Notice how Isaiah said -like- destruction from the Almighty. Were so clever we can blow ourselves up when God allows it.

 

Zechariah 14:12

And this shall be the plague wherewith Jehovah will smite all the peoples that have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. 1901 American Standard Version, (Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.) 1994.

Humm!!
From what we know of a nuclear blast this plague described above sounds exactly like the effects of being caught in a nuclear blast. God in control - Good Kingdom. Man in control - No kingdom.


Revelation 9:14-15

It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

Before a third of mankind is wiped out the verses before it state that some kind of agony is let loose where men will seek death but can not find it but it does not harm the environment. First comes this agony then a third of mankind is wiped out by these 4 angels(which I believe to be nuclear weapons) but notice where they come from and that is bound at the great river Euphrates. The Euphrates flows through Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey so which country has or is developing nuclear capability is anybodies guess but from the river Euphrates they will be launched.

 

Revelation
11:15-19
(NIV)

15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said:“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.”

16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying:

“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
the One who is and who was,
because you have taken your great power
and have begun to reign.

18 The nations were angry;
and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets
and your saints and those who reverence your name,
both small and great—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”

19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

 

Revelation     8:8-9

8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

 

Humm!!
This huge burning mountain thrown into sea, by all probability, seems to be an asteroid impacting the sea. Daniel 2:31-45 also states that before God's kingdom comes into effect, a rock not carved with human hands will destroy the previous, our present kingdoms.

In Revelation this star or falling asteroid has a name and it is called in Hebrew Abaddon, and in Greek it is called Apollyon. Interesting enough, there is an asteroid out there called Apophis.  Point being Apollyon & Apophis are two Greek incarnations of the same Egyptian god called Apep "the destroyer".

Apophis is a generic terrible destroyer in the Olympian mythos, and Apollyon is the same character but in the Christian setting of the Revelation of St. John. 

The name of Apollo in Greek also translates as "the destroyer," and this asteroid called "Apophis," becomes an Apollo class asteroid when it swings into the same orbit as the earth. These names are all the same, and they indicate different versions of the same basic character. 

It has beeen estimated that the asteroid is traveling at a speed of 25,000  mph to 100,000 mph and packs enough energy to equal "millions or  billions" of atomic bombs. A direct hit would wreak havoc with the  Earth's atmosphere, cause a "tremendous amount" of acid rain and spread  fire all over the planet. Its mass is estimated to be 4.6×1010 kg. When its orbit was sufficiently well calculated it received the permanent number 99942 (on June 24, 2005), the first numbered asteroid with Earth-impact solutions.

Receiving a permanent number made it eligible for naming, and it promptly received the name "Apophis" as of July 19, 2005. Apophis is the Greek name of the Ancient Egyptian god Apep, "the Destroyer", who dwells in the eternal darkness of the Duat (underworld) and tries to destroy the Sun during its nightly passage.

NASA initially estimated the energy that Apophis would have released if it impacted Earth as the equivalent of 1480 megatons of TNT (114,000 times the energy from the nuclear bomb Little Boy, dropped by the United States on Hiroshima, Japan). A more refined later estimate was 870 megatons (which is still around 65,500 times the energy of the bomb mentioned above). The impacts which created the Barringer Crater or caused the Tunguska event are estimated to be in the 10-20 megaton range. The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa was the equivalent of roughly 200 megatons.

If impact were to occur during the 2029 close approach, based on the predicted time of approach (0.89 of a day, or about 21:20 UTC) and the fact that the asteroid would be approaching the Earth from outside of its orbit, the impact would likely occur in the Eastern Hemisphere (time zones UTC +3 to UTC +10). Any potential impact would occur at a
velocity of 12.59 km/s.

This destroyer Apollyon (asteroid) is set to arrive in 2029 and with all my understanding Jesus is set to return in 2030. Seems to me this will be a major impact by the asteroid as they first guessed and not just a close miss. God people will be saved before the destruction caused by this asteroid to be returned to earth with Jesus setting up the millennium kingdom on earth.

 

 

 

 

Revelation
   9:1-6

 

 

 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit; he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft. Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given authority like the authority of scorpions of the earth. They were told not to damage the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were allowed to torture them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torture was like the torture of a scorpion when it stings someone. And in those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them. The New Revised Standard Version.

 

Humm!!
This star opens the bottomless pit, in other words raptures the crust of the earth in a big way. The most detailed description of chemical/nuclear missiles found in the bible is in Revelation 9:1-20 but what I want to point out in the above verses is that these locusts(missiles) come from the smoke. As the asteroid impacts into the sea, missiles are let off.

Star lands, shaft opens, smoke rises out of the shaft, from the smoke comes the locusts(missiles) which does no damage to the vegetation, only those who are do not have the seal of God are affected.

 

EZEKIEL 39:6-8 I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD. "'I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the LORD am the Holy One in Israel. It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign LORD. This is the day I have spoken of.

ISAIAH 13:7-10

BECAUSE OF THIS, ALL HANDS WILL GO LIMP, EVERY MAN'S HEART WILL MELT. TERROR WILL SEIZE THEM, PAIN AND ANGUISH WILL GRIP THEM, THEY WILL WRITHE LIKE A WOMAN IN LABOR, THEY WILL LOOK AGHAST AT EACH OTHER, THEIR FACES A FLAME. SEE, THE DAY OF THE LORD IS COMING - A CRUEL DAY, WITH WRATH AND FIERCE ANGER-TO MAKE THE LAND DESOLATE AND DESTROY THE SINNERS WITHIN IT. THE STARS OF HEAVEN AND THEIR CONSTELLATIONS WILL NOT SHOW THEIR LIGHT. THE RISING SUN WILL BE DARKENED AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT.

Notice also only sinners are destroyed so what has happend to God's people?
