Jonathan (Brian Slade) is on the left, and Ewan (Curt Wild) in the right of the pic.
All the chicks
and cats, put on your red shoes and dance the blues
(or rather rock and roll)...
Let's swing!
I think it's
the best movie of the last years, if not of the whole 90s...

So it's easy to notice that lots of music greats
took part in the making of those soundtracks, or at least gave their compositions
for use on the films. And what a fab coincidence that the 70s greatest
rockers Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Lou Reed and Brian Eno gave their records
to them (not only to Velvet Goldmine, which seemed quite natural).
What's even more exciting for us, the fans, Ewan
sings himself. With his harsh, but intriguing voice, it's bound to be good.
Combined with the impact of the hero he created, you're just left speechless.
I was. And with your head filled with tunes of thousands of colours and
dimensions...
FINALLY Episode 1 of Star Wars has come to Poland!
This is him as Obi-Wan Kenobi, the ultimate Jedi knight...
In the background there's his master, as Obi keeps calling him, Qui-Gon Jinn (not sure if I got it right)
The grand premiere show was held on 12th Sept in the Kongresowa Hall in the Palace of Culture here. I saw it on the 17th, which is two days ago, the first day it was shown in the cinemas. The cin was packed to its extreme. Lucas did a great job once again -it wasn't repetitive in a little bit. Even the Jedis were shown quite differently. The whole planet Naboo and the other one where young Ani lived -with the race, especially, were so imaginatively conceived. The most moving scene for me, though, was of the fight with Darth Maul. Probably it's caused by the memories of the previous parts, which I watched as a child. But half of it goes to Ewan's acting, especially his dramatic scream 'NO!' at the sight of Qui-Gon... and what you see later is just the swords flying in the air, you can't see what's going on until Darth pushes Obi-Wan down to the shaft (very reminding of Mark Hamill's struggle, admittedly) -and then the final duel, resulting in a somewhat surreal kind of Darth Maul's death. The queenie is quite good, too. Definitely not a character lacking character, she is.
I will not venture to comment on her wardrobe, though...The first (now -middle) three parts of the cosmic saga needed an explanation.
'Episode 1' is a good beginning of such.
'The Pillow Book',
Peter Greenaway, 1996 One of the most mystical films I've ever seen. Ewan -Jerome is an English 'translator', who (just exactly why?) is involved in a disgusting relationship with a Hong-Kong bookshop owner. The 'publisher', as he is called, is a really dreadful and malicious old man. I started the other way round. The main character is Nagiko -a Japanese girl fascinated with literature, who writes a very personal diary, inspired by a similar one of her aunt's, since childhood. At the age of 18 she 'aquires a husband' in a very 'ceremonial' wedding. The marriage is a disaster and ends quickly in the first major fire of her life. The second is even more tragic and meaningful, but I won't give that away. The real action starts when she meets Jerome, by whom she isn't particularly impressed at first. (he doesn't write -he scribbles!) From then on it's a pure show of desire, obsession, madness and perversity, leading to a moving final of another part of Nagiko's life. Then comes the time for revenge. A too late realisation of what really counts... A story about learning life the hard way. About sensitiveness. A girl who turned very smart after she got crashed... And where's Ewan's part here? I said I won't breathe a word about it!Anyways these are just some of the numerous films he starred in.
