SO HOW COME NO ONE'S HEARD OF THIS BAND?
This really is an explosion, an explosion of rock better than the slightly dizzy Strokes or the howling, haunting B.R.M.C. Sightly older too. But there you go! Older guys are so much more fun, usually! ;-)
And this is such a beautiful string of rock and roll
songs, the two albums I've heard so far,
Acme Plus and Plastic Fang

Jon Spencer is a powerful performer, like no other I've heard in years.
In fact, I'd place him at number 3 right below Lou Reed and Mick Jagger, in my top 10 list of
the best male rock and roll singers still working.
And what does he actually sing about? Life, heartaches, feeling cursed, bad loves, and making it straight. Cos 'there's only one life to live.' And, of course, about rocking, kicking out the jams like there's no tomorrow! I suppose he probably says the words: 'come on, baby' about 50 times on their last last record, but then he is so convincing!
Also, he's got a wonderful voice range, and can sound like anyone from a delta bluesman to a screaming young punk (but not too often, for Christ's sake...)
