(what you see on the left side, nic is nothing in Polish - the headline says All or nothing). This is just a great picture, isn't it?
Had to mention them. It's of course a diggression on faces as well.
I knew little about them until I learned of Rod Stewart's Faces (orig. Small F.).
Steve Marriot (b.1947) and Ronnie Lane (1946) were the driving force behind
the founding of the band. Steve was a connaisseur of black American music. Their drummer was
Kenny Jones (1948) and Jimmy Langwith played the organs.
In spring 1965 they played the Cavern and (so they say) got very popular with its
audience. Soon Ian McLagan replaced Langwith.
May 1966 self-entitled debut LP comes out.
August -All Or Nothing the single
1967 -From The Beginning a compilation LP -accidentally the first two albums bore covers
pics from the same photo session. The group then switched from Decca to Immediate label.
In 1969 Steve Marriot left. The other recruited Ronnie Wood on guitar and afterwards Rod Stewart, as a better vocalist than any one of them. And they changed the name.
I wonder because they symbolize, to me, the 'everydayness' of the mod time, behind the glamour of the Beatles and everything that meant.
