APRIL O6 CAMPAIGN
Hope You Are Listening!
Mary Bailey
Beginning the week of April 3rd through April 14th I will be asking all injured workers and their family members to call and email legislators local office with the following message.
Injured workers of this state would like to know when you are going to seriously address our issue, which is to fix the comp system so that it works for the people it was intended to help - the workers.
Each year we wait for you to take care of injured workers but you turn a deaf ear to our requests for your assistance. Please address this issue today. It must be addressed this session.
Please contact VOICES for more comprehensive information. You can reach VOICES at www.voicesflorida.com or Mary Bailey, president of VOICES at 904-778-9344, email address Crs012001@cs.com. We want to be a part of the solution.
Call as many local offices as you can without costing you long distance fees. This is a relatively simple statement and you can refer anyone with questions that you don't understand to me by saying something like I would prefer that Mary Bailey answer that. Often, some lawmakers and their aides, try to make you feel like you don't know what you are talking about. That is why I am giving you the escape of referring people to me if you don't know the answer to the question or don't understand the question.
Please people get family and friends calling on this day. We need to tie up the phones with the comp issue. If your friends and family can't help you with something as simple as this, they should be ashamed. Give your friends and family members a copy of this to read along with phone numbers of lawmakers in you area. Remember you will not be able to reach your lawmaker because they are in Tallahassee. Just leave the message with an aide and tell them you will be calling back to get the lawmakers position on this issue. This is important. Start getting people together to help make the calls. Have your older children call as well. It will be a good learning exercise for us all.
You can find your local lawmakers contact info at our web page www.voicesflorida.com.
Here is Mary Bailey's information when you need to refer staff and lawmakers to her: 7937 Jaguar Drive Jacksonville, FL 32244 904-778-9344 Crs012001@cs.com www.voicesflorida.com
REMEMBER: Do NOT say that you are speaking for VOICES. Mentioning that you are a member - if you are - is fine, but please be very clear - you are not to speak FOR the organizatioon.
This has caused serious and negative confusion with lawmakers in the past, so be careful out there, okay? If the lawmaker wishes to hear "the official line", refer him/her to Mary Bailey at crs012001@cs.com.
