 VOICES Inc. is a non-profit organization made up of injured workers and their supporters. It is strictly a volunteer organization, made up of volunteers. There are no paid employees. No one makes any money from VOICES, Inc.

Its goal is to guide injured workers and their families through the workers compensation system and educate them to their rights under the laws of the state of Florida.

About VOICES, Inc

• VOICES, Inc. was started in 1996 by Beverly Haire, herself an injured worker. She had suffered the abuses of the workers compensation system in Florida and was determined to do what she could to correct the system. She, then Kevin Anderson, served as head of the organization until 1999 when Mary Bailey became president. Mary still serves in this office.
  
• Under Mary's direction and with the support of other groups, VOICES has gone from a organization that was largely unknown by legislators to an organization known, respected and expected by legislators in Florida.
  
• The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers gave VOICES, Inc. an award recognizing the organization as one of the premier advocacy groups for workers' rights in Florida for the 2002 legislative session.
  
• VOICES, Inc. is incorporated as a non-profit organization. It zealously guards that status.
  
• It maintains as personal a connection as possible with thousands of members who are suffering and maltreated by the Florida Workers Compensation system.
  
• It advocates for injured workers and educates the Florida legislature by promoting email, telephone, federal mail and personal contact with lawmakers throughout the year.
  
• It makes its expertise available at governmental commission meetings, legislative hearings, press conferences, and media appearances.
  
• It takes no recommendations on candidates but rather helps its members to make their own informed decisions by collecting and disseminating unbiased, pertinent information about candidates and issues affecting injured workers.
  
• It operates on the tiniest budget in the world. Donations are accepted.

The organization offers the following services to injured workers:

We:

1. Educate injured workers on how to navigate the workers compensation system as successfully as possible under the Florida statutes.

2. Provide access to a free, online support group for injured workers and their families, where injured workers share their fears and their experiences in an atmosphere that is supportive of the injured worker's needs.

3. Provide a free, statewide referral service to attorneys who are workers compensation specialists.

4.  Educate injured workers about their rights under Chapter 440 of the Florida statutes

5. Update injured workers on new workers compensation laws as they come into effect.

6. Assist injured workers in understanding and participating in the legislative process.

7. Empower injured workers.

8. Build the injured worker's self esteem.
