The main intention of this site is to celebrate the beauty of the Psalms as inspirational poetry; however some general information regarding this familiar book of the Hebrew bible and Christian bible is included here. The Psalms are used extensively in Jewish and Christian worship.
With 150 chapters, it is the longest book of the bible and is divided into five sections (Ps 1–41; 42–72; 73–89; 90–106; 107–150). The sections are believed to have been compiled and assembled into their present form shortly after the Hebrew Captivity ended around 537 B.C. |
