"Listen carefully," says Marty Milner, speaking directly into his microphone. "If your license-plate number is 837-UDC, you have 30 minutes to call me."
A clear case of grand theft auto? No. The actor best known as "Officer Pete Malloy" on the Jack Webb opus Adam-12, is operating on a different wavelength these days. A phone call to Milner, now co-starring with partner Lee Mirabal on the early morning "radio-magazine" at San Diego's KOGO radio, could win the lucky bumper-sticker-bearing motorist a prize. For Milner, a longtime San Diego resident, it's a chance to keep working while enjoying his surroundings. "I'm on the gold course by 9:40 A.M.," he says.
Milner's first big role was as "Tod Stiles," traveling companion to George Maharis on the early '60s TV series Route 66. More fame and fortune accrued with Adam-12, in which Milner co-starred with Kent McCord. When the series ended in 1975, Milner did some TV-movies and theater tours with his actress-wife Judy. Last year, on a promotional tour for a short-lived NBC show called Prime Times, he ended up at KOGO. There, he gave such a great interview that he was asked to return--permanently. Now, his show has fans as far north as Hollywood. "Our signal gets up there," says Milner, with a smile. "Kent McCord listens to me every day."
