Not too long ago the Marty Milners moved the family lock, stock and barrel to their avocado ranch in Fallbrook, California. Like many people, they'd all had about enough of the big city life and were more than ready to say goodbye to it forever. Marty, himself, wanted a peaceful place to go, a place where he could truly relax after a hectic day's filming of Adam-12. Even though he loved his co-starring role with his sidekick, Kent McCord, he desperately needed a haven to escape to. And, more than that, he did want a place his family could grow in, stretch out in, free from the LA smog and pollution. When he and his wife Judy first saw the ranch, they fell for it completely. Both of them had a feeling in their bones that this was the home they'd dreamed of having but never thought they could.
Before they made their minds up, they took the children out to see the ranch, too, for they felt the decision to live way out in the country ought to be a family one, not just theirs alone. Well, the kids, Molly, Stuart, Amy, and Andrew jumped for joy when they saw it. All of them thought it was the grandest idea their parents had ever had. They ran around the place discovering the secret of its hills and valleys, and just generally getting a fell for the place they would call home. And so, the Milner family bought the ranch and began to enjoy life in the wilderness. Fixing up the house was something everybody got involved in. It is such a big, pretty house with so much room to move around in that the large Milner clan finally had enough space. Marty took a keen interest in the avocados growing everywhere and he became a gardener of sorts. (Of course, the family eats avocados just about every day when they're in season!). Meanwhile, the four kids discovered the playhouse on the property and spent many great hours in it. Other times they'd help Dad with his gardening. Sometimes they'd all collect firewood for a cold evening by the fireplace when they might roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Occasionally they'd take walks after dinner and watch the golden sun set against their own clear, blue sky. Now, at last, they had room to run! But, most of all--more than anything--they had a place to grow in; a place where every morning they could wake in rooms bathed in sunlight permeated with the smell of fresh air, to the sounds of the gorgeous country all about them. And they knew that at last, they'd found a place to live in peace and harmony.
