Notes for St.Balthildis


Balthild was an Anglo-Saxon slave girl, married to Clovis II out of love. When Clovis died in 657, Balthild became a nun. She later founded the monastery of Chelles.
An English girl who was captured by pirates and sold as a slave.
     Her feast day is 30th January.

Notes for Theuderic III


King of Neustria 673-675
King of the Franks 675-691 

In 673, the young child Theuderic III became puppet king of Neustria, and when his brother Childeric II died in 675, king of all the Franks. In 687, he and the Austrasian Mayor of the Palace were defeated by Pepin II, grandson of Pepin I. He died at a young age in 691, and was succeeded by his son Clovis III.
