Thomas left Snyder County, PA [now Juniata County] in 1840, he took a towboat down the Ohi o River then Steamship up the Mississippi River toPrairie la Porte where he joined his broth er Herman who was alreadythere in 1836 where he appears on the Dubuque County, Territory o fWisconsin census. Herman died there in 1843. Thomas, Amelia and Family had a very difficult time here and soon werevery sick with Malar ia and soon lost their baby Mary

Courthouse, Lancaster, PA 2 CONT in which he names his wife and 5 children. 1 NOTE !Peter Krohbiel and his descendants in about 1681 left their homeland of 2 CONT Switzerland because of religious persecution. They with about 700 2 CONT others moved to Germany. Then because of mandatory service in the 2 CONT German military program for his sons, John emigrated to America. It is 2 CONT possible that John was a grandson of the above mentioned Peter.
