You are the only one I have my dear mother,
You are like no one else you are like no other.
My mother you have always been the only one for me,
Mother I love you that is plain to see.
From the time I was a baby you were there to care,
Let no one say otherwise let them dare.
You were there to look after my every need,
From changing my nappy to giving me a feed.
I remember the first day at school you led me by the hand,
And sent me off to learn about the wonders of this land.
Then, to the Scouts there I'd be happy you had no doubt,
Where I would learn the other things that life is all about.
When school was over work for me you did find,
All these things I remember about a mother so kind.
At first you were unsure of Melanie who I wanted for a wife,
Then a little later on you let her into your life.
Then across the world to Africa we went,
But with us all your love was sent.
But no matter how far away you are always near,
That is why forever I will love you mother dear.
Even your grandchildren rate you very high,
When is Ouma coming they ask with a sigh.
We tell them listen kids she is not far away,
She should be here soon maybe any day.
