My own space

Why can I never find a space of my own,
A place where I can be all alone.
No matter what I try to do,
There is always someone there too.

A place to sit and read left in peace,
A little bit of privacy that at least.
A place to relax and even to dream,
A private somewhere to let off steam.

We all need a place to sort out our mind,
Some time to think a time to be kind.
A place where our thoughts we can sift,
Without causing a family rift.

All I want is a space to call my own,
A little somewhere within my own home.
A place to do what I think is right,
Either in the day or during the night.
