With all the problems and the strife,
Why did I become a housewife.
Was it for all the washing or the cooking,
Or just because I'm not so good looking.
My husband and children I love them dear,
But when I ask a favour it seems they don't hear.
I scream and shout they don't care,
What would they do if I weren't there.
My life of nappies and of washing,
If that's not enough then there's the ironing.
Hubby hurts his hand he lets out a curse,
But I am there for him his own little nurse.
For the children I must be like their teacher,
Sometimes when a pet dies even a preacher.
The hours are long the days are short,
My home is my castle or even a fort.
All these things I sit and ponder,
Even what it would be like over yonder.
What else could I have done with my life,
If I had not become a housewife.
