Michelle's Future Plans
The International Skating Union has released the assignments for future
Grand Prix events, and Michelle is not included on the list. This means Michelle will
not be competing in such events as Skate America, Skate Canada, and the Grand Prix Final.
There have not been any announcements from Michelle yet, but there is a chance she may still
compete in the U.S. Nationals and World Championships.

Michelle Exhibit at the World Figure Skating Museum
From Heather's Michelle Kwan Fan Page
Michelle will be part of a new exhibit at the World Figure Skating
Museum and Hall of Fame, titled "Passion to Skate," which honors Michelle and Dick Button, the
only figure skaters to win the Sullivan Award. Both skaters will unveil the exhibit in a
private ceremony on Saturday, July 6, at the museum in Colorado Springs. The exhibit will
open to the public on Monday, July 8.
The exhibit features panels showcasing the achievements of each skater, which include
childhood and competitive photographs, quotations, biographical information, and records of
accomplishments. The panel also details the criteria and history of the Sullivan award.
A sculpture by Milon Townsend will be featured in the center of the exhibition, lighted
from above. The glass sculpture depicts the duo in their signature moves: Dick Button in the
Russian split and Michelle in the inside spiral. Michelle has also loaned her skating costume
from the free skate performance at the 2002
Olympic Winter Games. Another panel presents photographs of Dick Button receiving the Sullivan
award in 1949 and Michelle receiving hers in 2002. There are additional photographs of the
two together at the Sullivan Awards Ceremony in April 2002.

IFS Magazine's Influential Skater ... 2001-02
Michelle has been named to International Figure Skating
Magazine's 25 Most Influential Names in Figure Skating List for the 2001-02 season. Congratulations,
Michelle! This is the sixth time Michelle has been named to the list.
There was a small profile of Michelle in the magazine, which included the following
quotes:
"The fans are really important to me, because they're there regardless of what
happens. They've been there when I've been down in the dumps and not skating that well. I lacked confidence, and
they were there to support me."
"It's a whole emotional roller coaster. There are a lot of things I like
about competition. There's the stress of 'Can she do it?' But you know, regardless of whether
you land all your jumps in the four minutes, you've improved so much from all the hard work
and preparation."
Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards
